The push to ban driver's licenses for illegal immigrants appears to be gaining some momentum with the legislature's 30 day session starting in just two weeks.

Governor Susana Martinez is picking up some support for her crusade against the licenses, but she appears to be losing a vote too. Some Democrats are moving into the "undecided" category.

Sen. Steve Fischmann, a Dona Ana County Democrat, is switching to the governor's side, saying he will vote with her because that is what the vast majority of people in hid district want.

This story is so poorly written and organized it is no wonder that people are watching reruns of “Gilligan’s Island” instead of the news.

What’s the point? They will continue to drive anyway, with or without a license, and cops and judges will continue to let them go.

The point is that a driver's license is a breeder document that can be used for other things. Just Ask Mohamed Atta

For criminals, terrorists, and others who want to live in the United States for nefarious purposes or under false guise, a state-issued driver’s license or identification card is their ticket to acquiring legitimate cover for their illegitimate activities. Those who seek to take advantage of a loose identification card issuance system where neither identity nor residency is actually verified can do so when the system is set up to turn a blind eye to illegitimate applicants for state-issued driver’s licenses and identification cards.

The 9/11 hijackers did this, as did many others less known both before and since. These types of individuals will continue to put our national and economic security and our public safety at risk until the system is fixed to weed out illegitimate from legitimate applicants.

How can any gov’t entity rationalize providing any kind of “license” to someone here ILLEGALLY?

Highway safety?
Oh...cuz they’re not going to drive illegally, after they’ve moved here illegally?

This is just another step to aid vote fraud, and support slave wages for LEGAL IMMIGRANTS.

It’s good to know that our next Vice President is on the right side of this issue.

New Mexico is the only state with a wide-open policy allowing licenses for illegal immigrants. Two other states, Utah and Washington, offer them with tight restrictions.

(The NM list is available on my FR homepage for anyone to use. Let me know if you wish to be added or removed from the list.)

And I'm still steamed over this -

But the newest member of the Senate, Democrat Lisa Curtis of Albuquerque, is not likely to support the Governor. Two county commissions appointed her to fill a vacancy in a heavily Republican district.

Kent Cravens, a conservative Republican, resigned to take a private job that would conflict with his senatorial duties and the libs nominated a RAT trial lawyer (she sues businesses) to take his place. Susana had no choice but to accept her appointment.

Over a year, and we're still discussing this?

This shows you how degraded our political discourse has become.

There is an entire party arguing in favor of giving potential terrorists-to say nothing of run-of-the-mill criminals-breeder documents!

In 2004, John Kerry opposed this-that's how stupid this concept is.
