UDT is underwater Demolition Team, it was before the seals but many (all?) UDT members became SEALS. So you might say that UDT was the precursor to SEALS. I know a UTD member, 80+ and I would not want to mess with him.

Underwater Demolitions Team. They were set up in WW2 to dive beneath enemy ships and attatch mines on them. Not an easy job, but not a SEAL, either...
