For vision and national unity, Huntsman for GOP nominee (Boston Globe endorses Huntsman)
Boston Globe ^ | Jan 6, 2012 | Editorial

. . . Among the candidates, only two stand out as truly presidential, Mitt Romney and Jon Huntsman. Both have track records of success, and both, through their policies and demeanors, have shown the breadth of spirit to lead the nation. But while Romney proceeds cautiously, strategically, trying to appease enough constituencies to get himself the nomination, Huntsman has been bold. Rather than merely sketch out policies, he articulates goals and ideals. The priorities he would set for the country, from leading the world in renewable energy to retooling education and immigration policies to help American high-tech industries, are far-sighted. He has stood up far more forcefully than Romney against those in his party who reject evolution and the science behind global warming.

With a strong record as governor of Utah and US ambassador to China, arguably the most important overseas diplomatic post, Huntsman’s credentials match those of anyone in the field. He would be the best candidate to seize this moment in GOP history, and the best-prepared to be president.

Yeah right. Sure. OK.

(If 2 negatives make a positive, do 4 positives make a negative?)

The Globe has it; Huntsman for Prez, Ted Kennedy for VP - two dead men running.

I don't see why.

I don't intend on voting for either, but why wouldn't you choose someone who's at least going to deport Obama's wastrel uncle?

“I’d take Huntsman any day over the mitt.”

Yeah. The cold war liberal over the New Age hologram. Huntsman at least seems like a flesh and blood homo sapiens.

I'd take Newt any day over Huntsman/Mitt.

Newt and Huntsman had a "Lincoln/Douglas" like (more like intended) debate a few weeks ago, where it becomes obvious that Huntsman, while clearly knowledgable about Asia and knows Chinese, is MUSH; whereas Newt shines in comparison.

I’d take the cartoon Huntsman from Freakazoid over all of them.

Lots of criticism can be heaped upon my sorry self. Most if not all of it warranted, no doubt. Nonetheless this election is a cruel deceit. A distraction while we are being crushed under the weight of totalitarianism.

I didn’t post the article, nor did I even suggest who you should vote for. I merely stated I would take Huntsman over Mitty.

I’m a longtime lurker and don’t mean to offend. Just throwing in a couple cents.

Ugh! Huntsman is just as big a RINO as Romeny and he looks like he has a degree from the Shepard Smith school of grooming.

And so you should state your opinion! Apologise for coming to the obvious conclusion that the vast majority of conservatives would be FAR better off under a Huntsman presidency than a Romney one? That’s just logic.

If anyone is ‘offended’ at a post praising Jon Huntsman, you can put this in your pipe and smoke it: I for one believe that he is our best choice for the presidency. He has a FAR more conservative record than most people here will admit. From being a tax-cutting governor, having a consistently solid pro-life record, an excellent pro-gun record, to a bold economic plan which tackles ‘Too Big To Fail’ banks with market solutions.

Huntsman over Romney by a mile. In fact, in my opinion, Huntsman over all the candidates by a mile.

We are allowed to passionately support our candidates on this site. Except for Romney, I have never attacked one of our candidates here, I have only defended mine. I will cheerfully continue to do so.

He isn’t perfect (nobody is) but I’m a proud supporter of Jon Huntsman for president.

Excellent news about the Globe endorsement!

“Jon Huntsman is the perfect party nominee. Unfortunately for him that would be the Democrat party.”
