Gingrich Turns Fire on Santorum

Just days after praising his rival GOP presidential candidate, Newt Gingrich took aim at Rick Santorum’s congressional record and said he would be considered the “junior partner” in a match-up between the two Republican hopefuls.

“If you think of us as partners, he would clearly in historical experience have been the junior partner,” Gingrich said Thursday on the campaign trail. “He’s not a bad person, I want to be clear about this, but I don’t know that he has any track record of being able to organize a large-scale campaign.”

Also, condescension is rarely an admirable trait, but it is deadly when one of your major flaws is a penchant for acting like you are so much smarter than everybody else that you believe others should feel blessed by your mere presence.

Thanks for putting out the truth about the issue

ME thinks WellyP either knows the truth ( which makes his/her integrity as a poster here suspect )

OR

If he/she doesn’t then he/she should thank you for making him/her aware of it

well which is it?
you posted this in an earlier article
“Rick took $100,000 from a struggling Pennsylvania public school district to pay for his children’s “cyber” education program”

I don’t have a dog in this fight but truth is truth and isn’t there another side of this story?
Where is the man supposed to live while he is serving in DC? I know of many people that move to the area and rent their house out during their term.

Your HATE is obvious!

Wrong, the trend is what is important. Like the surge.

The headline is misleading. Newt is saying, as he did yesterday, that if the two of them join up and work together, he wants to be the senior partner, and Rick can be V.P.

On the other hand, I would agree that it’s pretty silly and condescending to speak that way. You don’t get to pick your V.P. until you’ve been nominated as POTUS. And if you want an informal agreement earlier, this ain’t the way to do it.

If both did, it would make it a lot easier to determine who the Anti-Romney candidate will be. The sooner, the better.
Romney benefits the longer the conservative vote is divided.

It has only been a few months since he called Paul Ryan's plan rightwing social engineering.

Which is by far one of the most taken out-of-context statements of this entire campaign. What Newt said, was that IMPOSING right-wing social engineering is no better in principle than imposing left-wing social engineering—this is a position that conservatives should absolutely be lauding him for.

How the hell is that turning up the fire

Seems like he was just pointing the difference in experience in congress especially at the leadership level

abc interviewed newt this morning and as is usual with newt... he backed off and spun what “he really meant”. He actually had high praise for Santorum.

Willard the Massachusetts Lib at about 25% is toast if we (50%+ consisting of True Conservatives/Tea Party/So-Cons) play this RIGHT!

That’s nice except Santorum lost that last election in a landslide.

Newt has been the second most powerful person in the U.S. government. No other Republican candidate even comes close to that.

It’s not being played right with the division of the conservative vote. That needs to charge real soon.

Powerful enough to drop from 1st in Iowa to 4th.
That was powerful. He’s dropped in NH and he’s dropped in SC.
That’s powerful too! Newt had better go postal soon on somebody!

He is a bigger threat currently than Romney, as long as Santorum splits the non Romney vote, Romney is the defacto Nominee.

It isn’t that Santorum has a shot of winning the nomination, let alone the White House, its that as long as the non Romney vote continues to be divided, Romney becomes the defacto nominee.

Its simply math, not a concession that Santorum is going to win anything folks, need to cool the emotion and think a bit.

Posters like you said “wait till SC” over and over again.
If u have not noticed, poll results are changing in SC and
not in Newt’s favor. He led by 37% a week ago. He’s dropping now.

No emotions, just facts. Could those facts change in the next two weeks? Sure.

However, as of today, Newt is dropping like a rock.

Newt won’t win any votes with this and will probably lose some.

Newt knows that a competition between two conservatives assures a Romney win. If Santorum can put together a solid campaign that competes with or eclipses Newt, Romney wins in a walk. Unless, of course, either Newt or Santorum bow out for the good of the country. Newt is suggesting it should be Santorum because Newt can run a better campaign.

Funny how everyone was saying newt had a lock on sc, seems a whole bunch of people were completely wrong. I would say the polls have shifted even further in Florida toward rick. The bloom has gone off the newt rose.
