Fire, chemical spill after trains collide in NW Indiana

Three freight trains collided in Porter County, Ind. this afternoon...

The accident involved a collision, derailment, fire and chemical spill, according to officials.

No fatalities or injuries have been reported.

There’s now a picture at the site (which refuses to be copied). Looks like adjacent tracks, so probably the crash on one track pushed cars into the train on the other track.

Say, that reminds me, I thought Super 8 sucked. It was kind of a cross between ET and Gooneys, with some good effects, but more the plot had more holes than Bonnie and Clyde’s car.

More info at the site now:
Two crew members have been hospitalized but their injuries are not life-threatening, according to a law enforcement source, who is on the scene. The victims, men, were both taken to Porter Hospital in Valparaiso, Ind.

One freight train was stopped for an unknown reason when a second train rear-ended it, according to the source.

“They have a collision, derail and fall onto separate tracks next to them,’’ said the source.

Story goes on to say the third train "could not avoid" the other two. Guess he was supposed to swerve...
