(QUEEN Sheila) Jackson Lee welcomes Obama’s move to bypass Senate Republicans
Houston Chronicle ^ | 1-6-2011 | Texas on the Potomac

A Houston-area Democrat serving in the House is hailing President Obama’s controversial recess appointment of a former Ohio attorney general to head the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

...Obama resorted to the step after Cordray’s Senate confirmation had been sidetracked for months.

...“Senate Republican obstructionism has until now prevented the bureau from fulfilling its mandate from Congress to oversee some of the worse anti-consumer practices of non-bank financial services providers, like payday lenders, debt collectors, and check-cashing outlets.”

...Sens. John Cornyn, R-San Antonio, and Kay Bailey Hutchison, R-Dallas, criticised Obama’s move in statements issue on Wednesday.

The GOP lawmakers claimed the new agency would impede economic recovery with regulations on financial institutions. Democrats favor the agency, claiming it will protect consumers from some of the financial irregularities that contributed to the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression.

She is clear proof that no intelligence is needed for a Jurisprudence degree from Harvard.

It is clear that if... or when... we become an official marxist state, there will be a seamless transit thru the last stages that the dem’rats in power will transcend. None of them will bat an eyelash; they’ll simply keep doing what they’ve been doing for years... except the umbrella under which they work will be a totalitarian dictatorship.

WHOOO HOOOO! Hot Damn! Now that’s what I call standing up to some of this BS!

I just bet they criticise him for giving our secret missile technology to Moscow also.

"oversee some of the worse anti-consumer practices of non-bank financial services providers"

A little moment of inadvertent honesty, there. Overseeing is exactly what the administration wants to do. Eliminating the practices is what they claim to be intending.

Moreover, the line ranks up there with Mad Maxine's "the question is mute" for sheer dumbness.

Ah, so this old oinker is of the Alcee Hastings school of governance. You know, the Alcee Hastings who infamously remarked during the obamacare sessions: rules? what rules? there are no rules...

Now, who could be surprised. She likely would support an Obama dictatorship for life, martial law, and FEMA camps for zero’s political opponents. I honestly think that she would not oppose a holocaust against zero’s opponents if it came down to that. Once a person has demonstrated that they will support a corrupt, amoral leader without question as she appears to have, anything is possible. She could indeed follow orders much like an SS officer.
This person is today’s joke, but she and her ilk could be tomorrow’s nightmare. The first amendment won’t stop a person like this; only the second will do.

I am glad she said this. It officially lays to rest the myth that the Repubs are “do nothing” and responsible for his illegal actions. Bypass, means he intended to go around them.

It is proof he never intended to work with them.

[Venture] Are there any white people at all in her Texas district?

Now, please would someone, with a brain, please run against this foolish _itch.

This district was once represented by George Herbert Walker Bush. When he ran against Lloyd Bentsen for U.S. Senator in, um, I want to say 1976, the seat went to the Dims.

Enter Dallas-area congressman Martin Frost, a shellbacked liberal drone, and the gerrymander of 1981.

The district was redesigned for Barbara Jordan, to be a "safe seat". It's about 55% black, which is overkill as far as "controlling" the Member of Congress from that seat. (More background on that if wanted -- it's a poli-sci thing: 25% bloc vote in a district is a dead lock.)

Example of the effect: the best Republican to contest the seat, in 1992, Ed Blum, was an energetic, engaged, knowledgeable bond salesman at an underwriting firm who knew a few things about government. He engaged former Congressman Craig Washington, Jackson Lee's predecessor, in a debate. Washington, in a seldom-equalled public display of contempt for the office, the process, and us white voters, deliberately smokestacked, fumbling every question, barely answering others, conceding everything Blum had to say -- then won the election in a 75%/25% walkover that barely scratched the surface. Get the picture? We are non-citizens, who are not black.

The only executive example from which the Framers worked was the British King. That King made war on and otherwise abused his North American subjects.

The Framers stuck their necks out and determined that while we needed a chief executive, we had to take precautions to make sure he did not evolve into an elected monarch.

Kings have the sole power to appoint their advisers and ministers. King George III had poor advisors.

As opposed to Kings, Presidents select advisors/ministers contingent on approval by the Senate.

That is, until recently . . .

The real shame is that in these United States, Alcee Hastings and S.L. Lee represent their constituents very well.

No, the Voting Rights Act forbids it. If just once, the state Lege draws a district that is, say 50% black, that district can never be appreciably "diluted". The blacks must _own_ that district forever and ever, and too bad for any white people living in it.

A bunch of us have wanted out, like, forever. Won't happen. Sheila has got to have her 50% or whatever it is.

The usual Republican counter (courtesy of Dick Nixon) has been to use "affirmative action" redistricting to concentrate as many blacks as possible in one district, even if it ends up a colossal gerrymander (like Cynthia McKinney's old Georgia district, or Sheila's here in town, which looks like a giant bow tie). That gives the black congresscritters supermajorities in the one district which, however, dilute black voting strength in four or five other districts simultaneously, and likewise encourage people like Sheila, Cynthia, Charlie Rangel, Wm. "Cold Cash" Jefferson, and Maxine Waters to behave like perfect idiots, bringing their party and their people into disrepute with the rest of the Republic.

Dick Nixon will get you, lol .....

Too bad our neighborhoods wound up with zero (zilch, nada) in the way of sympathetic representation all the way up to the level of U.S. Senator (and both of 'em are RiNO's). We were just redistricted into the homosexual city-council district represented by a screaming libtard womynist, and we've been in a Tejana Dim's state representative district for about 10 years .... our state senator is an old "yaller dog" Democrat, but at least he's heterosexual, Anglo-Saxon, and bald.

The Houston City Council "at-large" seats largely represent a floating majority of Hispanics, homosexuals, and blacks. We just managed to turn one black woman out of an at-large seat after she got no-billed by a county grand jury. (!)
