My point being (and I’m pretty sure you it didn’t go over your head) that the truth isn’t better for Gingrich in this case. Just as I’m not sure Gingrich comes out ahead arguing that he didn’t actually DO a lot of work for Freddie for all the money they paid his company.
If you accept what he claims, then you have to wonder whether Freddie KNEW that most of the work they were paying for was actually being done by underlings — especially when Freddie’s representative claims they were hiring Gingrich, not his underlings. Maybe it will turn out they knew exactly what they were getting, but politically it’s got to be better for Gingrich if that story fades away, rather than having it argued front and center again.
That’s how I feel about this. I’ve been ignoring the attacks by Romney on Gingrich. They are baseless, meaningless, and mostly irrelevant to this election.
But now the whole Gingrich ethics problem is front-and-center again, and every media outlet can drag it out for the next three days, in the guise of the “new news” of Gingrich’s “threat to sue” Fox news. The media will “debate” whether Gingrich or Romney is “more right”, and every one will make it clear that the issue is a matter of words, not substance.

It’s never been proven. Or perhaps you have some cache of records, receipts, billed hour logs, etc? No, you don’t. If they existed we’d have ll seen them. There is no proof of wrong doing. Just lies and innuendo. I work fo a company which has done things I would not do, but I did not do them.
What IS on the record is Newt’s testimony and records that he advised them not to do what they did. I have no proof of wrong doing and neither does anyone else. So why the make believe that it exists?
