Lawmakers in the nation's capital have floated a plan to require high school students to apply to college or trade school -- even if the students have no interest in attending.

The proposal is a bid to ensure students in the troubled Washington, D.C., school system at least have the know-how to navigate the admissions process.

D.C. Council Chairman Kwame Brown, who introduced the bill, said the proposal would establish a "mandatory workshop" to teach teenagers how to apply for aid and admission.

Laughable but tragic. After a lifetime in the DC government schools they can't read a college application. Even today, when the applications are pitched at a low level.

Excuse me, Chairman Kwame Brown of the DC Council, since so very few of DC residents:
(1) finish high school and . . .
(2) of the graduates, fewer still can read, write, or speak coherently.
How can they apply for further education if they don't possess the ability in first place?
Or, are you proposing MANDATORY remedial education for DC residents?
Remember, you might be a racist because these are Obama’s people you're talking about and Eric Holder takes a dim view of anyone disparaging “his” people.
