Romney's Inexplicable DebateĀ Fibs
Buzzfeed ^ | 1/8/2012 | Buzzfeed Politics

Why not just tell the truth? The odd, small shadings of truth were the talk of the spin room in Concord after Sunday's debate.

CONCORD, New Hampshire -- Mitt Romney's generally strong debate performance was marred by two small and inexplicable shadings of fact -- moments that left reporters, rivals, and allies shaking their heads and wondering why he he couldn't just give a straight and obvious answer to relatively trivial questions.

Early in the debate, Rick Santorum pressed Romney on why he hadn't run for re-election in 2006, when his first term as Governor expired. Romney suggested it was because politics isn't his calling:

I think it's unusual, and-- and perhaps-- understandable, that people who spend their life in politics imagine that if you get in politics that that's all you wanna do. That if you've been elected to something, well, you get-- wanna get reelected and reelected.

I went to Massachusetts to make it different. I didn't go there to begin a political career, running time and time again. made a difference. I put in place the things I wanted to do. I listed out the accomplishments we wanted to pursue in our administration. There were 100 things we wanted to do. Those things I pursued aggressively. Some we won. Some we didn't.

Run again? That would be about me. I was trying to help get the state in best shape as I possibly could. Left the-- the world of politics, went back into business.

This is, as Newt Gingrich pointed out, ridiculous. Romney left the governor's office for a presidential campaign that hasn't stopped since.

You had been out of state for something like 200 days preparing to run for president. You didn't have this interlude of ... citizenship while you thought about what to do. You were running for president while you were governor. You were gone all over the country. You were-- you were out of state consistently.

You then promptly reentered politics. You happened to lose to McCain as you had lost to Kennedy.

The second apparent fib came when Romney was asked about the ads attacking Newt Gingrich aired by Restore our Future, the Super PAC that supports Romney.

"I haven't seen the ads," he said.

Seconds later: "The ad I saw said you were forced out of the speakership."

Romney went down to list attacks from the ad in question, which could be any of (or some combination of) the Restore Our Future spots. Romney spokesman Eric Fehrnstrom said after the debate Romney meant to say he hadn't seen all the ads. "He described the one ad he did see," he said.

The ineligible, deceptive RINO:
"We can lie if we want to.
We can leave real votes behind.
Cause if your friends don't vote
the way we want
Well they're no friends of mine."

“So what do we cons do if we are left with no other choice BUT Romney? What then?”

If that happens, I’ll devote all the money and energy that WOULD have gone to support a conservative presidential candidate to other races instead. I’m sure there will be some conservative candidates for the House and Senate who deserve support. And we’ll need them in DC more than ever next term, whether the president is a liberal Rat or a liberal RINO.

I MIGHT put a clothespin on my nose and vote for Romney if he gets the nomination, but he’ll get not 1 dime nor 1 minute of effort from me. McLame was the last straw, and I’ll not make the same mistake again.

If the republicans nominate Romney, we all need to remember there are many other races in 2012, and we can’t neglect congress if/when the presidential race goes up in smoke.

Given the way things are going, fill in the blank:

Landon, Dewey, Nixon, Ford, Dole, McCain, __________.

Here, you would be wrong. Mormonism is built on a lie, started by a liar and spread by lies.

"Shading the truth" to advance a cause IS the mormon way.

Reaganaut, as a former mormon, not a Christian, would you like to enlighten terycarl from your experience inside of the morg?

I have heard this weasel tell five or six different stories on why he was “pro-choice, and I will always be pro-choice.
Rove v. Wade is the law of the land and I will always be for a woman’s right to choose (murder).

Romney is a lying two-faced, hypocritical leftist of the first degree. He should have switch parties years ago where his liberal ideas would be appreciated.

I am interested in Terry’s source for his statement “most democrats are Christian and they outright lie”

Second, AMPU is correct, lying is part of Mormonism. I was lied to about LDS doctrine before I joined, I was told to lie about LDS teaching/history while studying for an LDS mission. Lying is part of Mormonism. Mitt is just doing what he was taught.

what kind of a statement is that??? I think that it is common knowledge that the vast majority of Democrats profess to be Christian....no source there, just common assumption....Now we are into the lying part. I personally believe that liberalism, in order to survive at all, must evade the truth whenever possible. As Obama cannot run on his record, the Democrat party cannot continue to have success in the political arena unless they either lie or unless we Republicans continue to forfeit elections through our own stupidity. I am no fan of Romney, my guy is Gingrich, but if Romney is our candidate, through no fault of mine, I will certainly back him VS Obama to the Nth degree. All these whiners who state that they will stay home etc etc rather than vote for Romney are the very people who are responsible for Obama being there in the first place. They decided that they didn't like the war hero McCain so they sent him no money, didn't talk him up among friends, maybe stayed home on election day and watched TV...congratulations, you lost.

I respect Reaganaut on this site and would never challenge his/her knowledge when it comes to mormanism. That having been said, this is a political discussion and I am willing to listen to anything that anyone has to say about Romney concerning his views, voting record, statements, history etc. etc. I am a Catholic and despised the media and critics of Kennedy because of his religion. I understand disagreements based on political views, not on ones religious views with one exception, and I don't consider Muslim views to be religious but political. I have no idea about lies propogated in the Morman religion, but I have to believe that faithful Mormons don't agree that they are lies. I believe that Protestants left Catholicism based on false teachings by the "reformers" but I seldom disrespect my protestant friends by referring to their denominations as liars. If Romney is elected president, I don't think that the failure or success of his administration will be based on his religion. I think that Rev. Wright is a nitwit, but Obama's failure as president has only to do with his own ineptness.
