In Which I Agree with Donna Brazile

Sorry, but the lady’s right. From my New York Post column today:

Lost in the weekend’s back-to-back debates in New Hampshire was this illuminating remark by Democratic strategist Donna Brazile after Saturday night’s soporific contest in Manchester: “Mitt Romney won tonight because no one touched him. And for Democrats, you know what? It was good news for us . . . because we believe that the weakest candidate is the candidate that the Republicans are not attacking. And that’s Mitt Romney.”

The remark drew guffaws from some of the other assembled party faithful and media commentators, but Brazile spoke the truth. Democrats do believe that Romney is eminently beatable, the perfect foil for President Obama, in fact.

And yesterday’s debate on “Meet the Press” amply illustrated her point.

This will probably bring me the usual array of brickbats, but let me, as the president likes to say, be perfectly clear. I have nothing against Mitt Romney. He’s a fine, intelligent man. He’d very likely be a good president — certainly better than the one we have now — and if he’s the candidate, I’ll probably vote for him.

But is he the candidate the hour calls for? Plainly not. He shows no sense of the urgency of the tasks before him, nor of the enormity of the catastrophe awaiting him. His Bain Capital record is going to be a liability, not the plus he thinks it is, since the the GOP is going to have to defend it in theory (the joys of creative destruction capitalism) while the media-wired Democrats will sob-sister it to death (bread lines and soup kitchens).

Been saying this from the very beginning.

Interesting the magnitude of the effort (and the direction - coming from all sides) to stop Newt.

I really do not understand the pro Romney (dole, bush, mccain ilk) and anti Newt. I would be delighted w/ Newt. Wish we could get him up there as nominee.

Or are the Dems using reverse psychology? Axelrod and Plouffe have been saying that Huntsman would be the most difficult to beat. In 2008, the MSM said McCain would be the most difficult to beat. I doubt that Brazile or any of the Dem operatives can be depended upon for good advice as to which GOP candidate would be the toughest or easiest to beat.

The GOP wins regardless of who the candidate is as long as the election is viewed as a referendum on Obama and his policies. Do the American people want four more years of "Hope and Change?" The 2010 midterms seem to have been forgotten by the pundit class. It is as though they never happened and only 2008 is relevant.

Mitt is this season’s McCain.

There really is no point to the GOP anymore.

...assembled party faithful and media commentators...

I believe that is a glaring redundancy. Even Jake Tapper, who is about as close to fair and balanced as it is possible for the MSM to be, was gushingly favorable for Romney. I was really shocked when Brazille admitted that the White House wants to run against Romney because they see him as the easiest to beat. I bet somebody took her to the woodshed for that one.

Isn't Donna Brazile the notorious racist who infamously declared that she wanted the “white boys” to be defeated?

How did she get hired as a commentator?

It’s amazing that Mitt didn’t drop like a stone after parading around with McCain last week. I don’t think there’s alot of truth coming out of these recent polls

Maverick McCain was the choice of the MSM and the Dems claimed that he would be the most difficult to defeat. McCain became the presumptive nominee of the party with just 33% of the primary vote. After the SC and FL primaries, it was all over with McCain being declared the presumptive nominee.

Ah, yes, we`re now taking campaign advice from Donna freakin Brazile, who is so concerned that we might lose that she`s telling us who her side wants to run against. And who do the dems want, someone who is being criticized [Romneycare, abortion, liberal leanings] and still winning?

I can`t stand Romney, but the Republicans are cracking up if they think Donna freakin Brazile doesn`t have an agenda. I guess we`ll know who we should pick by asking her--`Oh, you should pick Huntsman or Paul, democrats REALLY don`t want them to run against!`

She said that in the after-debate panel on ABC. Her colleagues were taken aback that she would say such a thing (as in say the truth).

I would say that Ms. Donna Brazile was whistling past the graveyard, were it not for the fact that, once nominated, Mitt Romney absolutely will NOT address any of Obama’s falures and many vulnerabilities, because it would not be “gentlemanly”, and besides, he might be called a “racist”.

Obama’s incompetence is NOT a racial matter in any form. He came to office woefully unprepared, without any relevant experience, and working under the advice of persons who themselves are neither particularly competent nor well-versed in what the purpose of the United States is in the world.

Even if Mitt somehow did get elected, he ould only try to make the entire agenda erected by Obama work better by tweaking it, but repeal is apparently not an option.

Even though Donna is a RAT, she is more objective than Karl Toyko Rove ever is. Rove has a dog in this fight and it shows.

I am beginning to wonder if the GOP establishment is intentionally trying to depress conservative votes in the general election, if Romulus wins the GOP nomination.

A heavy Tea=Party turnout in the general election would mean more Tea Party congresscritters. More Tea Party Congresscritters could mean Bonehead, Cantor and The Gobbler MConnell would lose their leadership positions.

How did she get hired as a commentator?

She's a black lesbian who ran a national (losing) campaign. That establishes her bona fides for all time.

This article references the Donna Brazile comment. Her comment does not reflect what we saw on MSNBC yesterday, but I refuse to believe her comment and the anti-Mitt sentiment are unrelated.

Wonder what the game plan is?

No no you have to be careful being a Democrat she knows that Republicans won’t trust her therefore she’s plainly assuming that we will assume her use of reverse psychology... however, knowing that we are more intelligent she will obviously assume that we know that she will know that we will know and therefore... inconceivable no?
