I wonder if he made any statements about wanting to attack the US, or he just wanted to help Al Shabaab take Somalia. My guess would be the former. He's lucky he's alive being arrested in Kenya trying to help a group Kenya is actively fighting. Ironically his American citizenship probably saved his life.
