Anoka-Hennepin teachers want to get rid of the district's controversial policy governing classroom discussions about sexual orientation - and they don't want a proposed new one to replace it.
Union representatives of the 2,800-member teaching staff voted Monday against having any policy that would place dictates on classroom conversations about sexual orientation or any other topic deemed controversial, according to Julie Blaha, president of Anoka-Hennepin Education Minnesota.
Those results were presented to the Anoka-Hennepin school board Monday night.
"Despite the good intentions of it, it turned out to be more confusing and limiting than helpful," Blaha told board members, referring to the district's current sexual orientation curriculum policy.
Teachers believe that the new, broader policy being considered to replace it isn't necessary either, she added.
The vote was the first official stance taken by teachers on the sexual orientation curriculum policy. The guidelines have divided Minnesota's largest school district, landing it in the middle of a national debate about anti-gay bullying and prompting two lawsuits.
Opponents of the current policy - the language directs teachers to remain neutral on lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender topics - blame it for fostering an anti-gay environment for LGBT students.

I’m sick of the bullying BS as well. There is no bullying. There is no thought of bullying. This country has been so “chickified” and men and boys have been so emasculated that no one knows how to bully.

Yup, when I was in grade school in the sixties there sure weren’t any bullies or fights or getting picked on. /ssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
Seems to me I got pounded on quite regularly for being a wise a$$.
Several months ago, I read a post from a FReeper that has stayed in my brain. Bullying can keep modes of behavior within a norm. For example, if someone shows up to school.. stinking of B.O. with greasy hair... comments are made. The student can choose to wash/use deodorant or be referred to as “stinky”. The same goes for homosexuality. If some boy shows up to school wearing lipstick, eyeliner and a skirt, he can choose to continue to wear it or be referred to as “Lady Gaga” or whatever.
I remember when I was in high school. One girl got so drunk at a party that she couldn’t walk and threw up all over the place. For several weeks at school, she was teased for being so drunk. She didn’t drink for the rest of her high school years. My point is that the more schools enforce nebulous “anti-bullying” codes... the more extreme behavior goes without comment. IMHO.

Negative experiences are the most vivid in memory. Think back to some of your earliest memories as a child. I’d bet the farm that it’s a negative memory such as a spanking or falling off your bike. Negatives help to reinforce memory to allow the brain to avoid those situations again. This is why I’m completely flummoxed how these “experts” can claim that spanking is bad.
Like your example, the drunk girl experienced a negative and probably spent the majority of the next day doubled over a wastebin dry heaving with a headache the likes of which she’d never had before. That experience alone would’ve been enough to stop her drinking, but the negative stereotypes and namecalling at school only further reinforced that aversion to drinking ever again.
Bullies are a necessary evil, I believe. Without the bad, there would be no good, if you’ll allow that to stand. Bullies teach us something about ourselves. By attempting to “normalize” every experience, you’re going to turn out unemotional sociopaths who happen to occupy the majority of university professorships and Democratic House seats.

I think that you’re on to something and want to expand it a bit. The homosexual agenda being rammed down everyone’s throat is that if “you” don’t accept or embrace the agenda then there is something wrong with “you”. Any attempt to defy or even question this agenda is defined as “bullying”. What this does is effectively shut down any attempt to resist or oppose the agenda.
What becomes evident is that the homosexual agenda becomes the de facto “Bully Agenda” and they themselves are the bullies. Those who oppose the agenda are in some cases restrained by law, to act in oppostion. So it’s much like being held down and getting beaten up.
As absurd as this sounds, the queers are the bullies and it is absolutely brilliant how they put themselves in that position.
As I recall, people mostly picked on in school were just different. It could be fat,skinny,short,tall or for dressing weird or having fake colored hair.
I think some call it “Darwinian selection” in some species.
