Presidential hopeful Perry warmly received in Rock Hill
Rock Hill Herald ^ | January 10, 2012 | Rock Hill Herald

It didn't take too many people to fill Kinch's Kitchen in Rock Hill Tuesday morning, and the small but eager crowd gave Texas Gov. Rick Perry a warm reception.

Perry kicked off the third stop of a two week tour of South Carolina at the local diner, stumping confidently, making jokes, and appearing in his element.

The on-the-ground strategy of taking his message local worked on at least one undecided voter.

Greg Reight, 68, of Rock Hill arrived at Kinch's with other ideas about who he'd support.

"I was very surprised to watch my opinion change listening to his speech," Reight said.

Perry impresses me and I will be sorry to see him go after S. Carolina votes. I wonder how old he will be in 2016 and if he would have any qualms about running for the open Presidency, with Obama being term-limited out?

Because lets face it folks, Romney will be the nominee.

A large swath of conservatives will not vote for him.

He will lose and Obama will get another 4 years.

I pray only that the TEA Party can win enough Senate race nominations to make a G.O.P. takeover of the Senate worth anything.

I believe that having had this experience, Perry would be better prepared in 2016.

Nothing is decided yet. Perry will not go after South Carolina. And the press is telling us that we are going to have Romney, and I say no way.

That right now is nothing more than propaganda!

Romney has six delegates so far. He needs far more than that for his coronation.

If you believe he will be the nominee, than you really shouldn't waste your time posting. You can just wait to vote for the candidate that is handed to you.

I am very sorry to tell you that unless Romney loses New Hampshire or barely squeaks out a win, he’ll win S. Carolina.

He’ll win Florida.

He’s the only candidate in the primaries that has the money and the infrastructure in place to run strongly in all 50 states in order to get the nomination.

He stands to realistically wrap this thing up by Florida.

I won’t vote for him, primary or general.

If a President is going to kill this nation, I’d just as soon the letter following his name be a D.

“Perry will not go after South Carolina.”

No matter how embarrassing his loss?

>>Because lets face it folks, Romney will be the nominee.<<

And what if he does poorly enough in New Hampshire today to have people questioning his “inevitablility”?

The RINOCRACY together with the DNC will ensure that he wins S. Carolina and Florida.

Name for me the candidate NOT named Romney that has the money and infrastructure to compete on Super Tuesday.

Because lets face it folks, Romney will be the nominee.

Why do people keep repeating this nonsense?

Romney will NOT be the nominee because Republicans simply don't want him.

I have come to the conclusion that statements like this are designed to wear down good people. They are made intentionally by knaves and repeated unthinkingly by the unaware.

Romney is neither desirable nor inevitable. All we need to do is work against him and vote against him and he be toast. I think this will happen in South Carolina, where he ought to be reduced to about 15% of the vote total.

Which of the three conservatives running do you expect to drop out prior to S. Carolina so that the one remaining can trounce Romney as badly as you describe?

Thank you, Rock Hill. All we need is for people to listen. Just listen. The difference between Governor Perry and the other is like night and day.

Why do you think that Romeny will do worse defending attacks from one direction than he will trying to defend attacks from three directions? If you want to see Romeny defeated, why do you want to make things easy for him?

Why don't you talk to your friends about Romeny and his rivals, explaining why Romeny will be the weakest, most vulnerable possible candidate to put up against Obama, etc., rather than chanting "Romeny's inevitable"? Frankly it makes you look like a Romeny activist or a born-again pessimist.

And I'm not talking about anyone 'trouncing' Romeny. I'm talking about him maybe replicating his 2008 success in South Carolina (15.3%), just as he managed to do in Iowa.

South Carolina is an open primary. It means nothing in a year when the Democrats have an incumbent in the White House - they and the Libertarians will cross over and vote for Willard and RuPaul in large enough numbers to help them out.

People need to stop buying into the media's idea that SC means something. It's the second primary, and it's open.

Why is Perry and Gingrich making such a big deal out of SC when somebody on their staff surely knows it's an open primary, I don't know, but it's meaningless unless you're the MSM wanting to prop up Willard Romney.

Open primaries are elections’ worst idea short of public voting in a police state.

WHy on Earth are they permitted? Rhetorical question.

You'll be happy to know that Republicans in SC finally woke up and decided to file legislation and lawsuits to close the primaries. It's too late this time, but maybe by 2016 they'll be closed.

But the libtards will cross over and vote Romney and the MSM will play it up as Southerners like Romney.

I can't help but believe that Fox News is the chief culprit in Romney's success. There is no way in hell he should be leading or near the top in SC polling. So far, these polls leading up to the caucus and primary votes have been dead-on the money.

I think what it comes down to is people on the fence or undecided, who would naturally favor Santorum, Perry, Gingrich, are listening to the Fox News hyping of Romney - that "he's the only one that can defeat Obama."

Voters (it appears) are throwing out their philosophical positions and leaning toward popularity polls and media hype. Fox has WAY too much of a voice in this process, much of it stemming from a belief that its the only unbiased media coverage. The people that bought into this lie are also buying into the Romney hysteria. Voting out of FEAR and not principle.
