While Newt Gingrich campaign staffers are calling such talk premature, there are indications that should the former House Speaker bow out of the GOP race, he would throw his support behind rising Rick Santorum in a last-ditch effort to stop frontrunner Mitt Romney.
Multiple South Carolina sources affiliated with Santorum's campaign said Gingrich's campaign has contacted Santorum's campaign to discuss endorsing the former Pennsylvania senator should he drop out.
One source, speaking to Patch on the condition they not be identified, paraphrased Gingrich's stance as delivered by high level campaign staff this way: "If it can't be me, I want it to be Rick Santorum.""
Gingrich is looking at finishing as low as fifth place in New Hampshire and is currently polling at under 20 percent (good for third place) in South Carolina, according to rolling averages from Real Clear Politics.
Still, high-ranking officials within Santorum's South Carolina campaign don't foresee Gingrich stalling out before the primaries in the Palmetto State, where he once commanded an imposing lead in the polls.

I tend to think the VP role would be more suitable anyway, because he gets to be the attack dog, as opposed to the statesman.
The oldest conservative reservations on Santorum are going on six years old. Everytime I think I could bring myself to vote for Newt, he makes another appallingly stupid statement. Attacking Paul Ryan for "rightwing social engineering" was even dumber than the Bain Capital attack. Newt still has a lot to learn, but I'm afraid he is too old to learn it now.
Still, I think the man is brilliant and would be outstanding as a debate coach, speechwriter, cabinet member or even VP to Rick Santorum.
Here is my take. Both parties have cast off truth and have slipped into the abyss. The Democrats just did it first and with more fervor.
All truth comes from the author of truth, God Almighty, and it is no shock that as America casts Him aside, they become increasingly liberal.
Most pols today have no compass that points them to truth. It really is all about power, not service to God and country.
Although I am a little miffed at Perry for his attack on capitalism, especially since he wants to do to the DOE, Commerce and Energy what Bain did (get rid of under performers and thus leave many out of a job) (oh, and btw, I have little or no regard for Romney, but just speak to truth)... Perry is right when he talks about a part-time congress. A citizen congress as envisioned by the founders. The term “career” and “politician” should never appear in the same sentence.
As Rhode Island's Roger Sherman wrote during the Constitutional Convention of 1787, “Representatives ought to return home and mix with the people. By remaining at the seat of government, they would acquire the habits of the place, which might differ from those of their constituents.” .
Term limits would cure alot, IMO!
I don’t think so. Newt Gingrich is not planning on dropping out unless he zeroes in SC. It would be a far better plan for him and Rick Santorum to team up with Rick for VP as Rick has no chance of winning the nomination.
Don’t give up Newt!
(Although Gingrich/Santorum or Santorum/Gingrich would be just fine with me.)
I am seriously wondering how these votes would turn out if all these primaries were closed.
The conversation here would probably be a whole lot different than it is now.
I beg everyone to attempt to be a bit more farsighted than they are at this point.
Think to the debate stage in October. Think of the two men up on that stage.
Debates really matter. We can say all we want Obama won’t debate, but he WILL have to at some point. There WILL be debate.
I really do not want Santorum doing that debate, when we could have had Newt absolutely vaporizing Obama. PLEASE.
Newt can be tempered with the right folks around him ...but we NEED him out front, to carry the conservative message. He is the ONLY one who can do it in the most lethal way possible.
Santorum will look like the boy scout they say he is on stage. Yes, he’s articulate, but he lacks the venom necessary.

Gingrich should drop out and endorse Santorum. Newt has proved his critics right, he hasn’t the right temperament for POTUS. He’s a a great thinker but that doesn’t necessarilly translate into a great leader. His willingness to take out of context Romney’s remark about firing insurers was the last straw for me. Take note that Santorum never took the bait.
I am not in love with Rubio. He can be very wishy washy at times, and is only his first Senate term. Susana Martinez is more my speed as a VP pick.

Yup. How else to explain Ron Paul’s showing. Imagine if Romney or Santorum were 75 years old like RP. Wouldn’t someone be pointing that out? Though his age is the least of my problems with RP, it’s interesting to note that I’ve never once heard the MSM mention that. I think they love the mischief he’s doing to the GOP. Amazing the support he has among the young. I have to admit I do agree with him on some things, but...
One of them needs to endorse and campaign for the other. Whomever drops out first. Perry too.
I sincerely hope this pandering will haunt the nominee big come the general election ! Identity politics is a horrible American trait.

Is it a chapter from the book you cited-> Amazon: “Why the Left is Not Right - The Religious Left -Who they Are and What They Believe” Ronald H. Nash, PhD. It looks like Ronald Nash has written several books on Capitalism/Socialism as they relate to Christianity - I would be interested which one in particular this section is from before I buy one.
This post does a really good job of explaining things in a way that even high school kids can understand.
Our kids’ school wants to improve its Christian worldview training and I want to make sure they do a good job of teaching in the economic area- so I’ve been looking around at various worldview training curricula. Our family has several books describing the issue from a purely economic reality standpoint, but need a few to recommend to our school that have a Biblical basis.
