Hannity Challenges Rick Perry On Romney Attacks: ‘It Sounds Like Occupy Wall Street’

Rick Perry had an indisputably rough night in New Hampshire. In fact, tonight, his eyes were entirely on South Carolina, and, on Hannity tonight, he didn’t even bother to talk about New Hampshire. But his night got worse as Sean Hannity challenged him on his claims that Mitt Romney was a “vulture capitalist”– going so far as to claim that Perry sounded like a member of Occupy Wall Street.

Perry began the segment attacking President Obama, but Hannity quickly shifted gears to the “very harsh words” Perry has had for Romney. “It almost sounds like Occupy Wall Street,” he noted, “it doesn’t sound like someone who is governing Texas as a conservative.”

“There is a real difference between venture capitalism and vulture capitalism,” Perry replied, adding that “venture capitalism we like; vulture capitalism, no.” He justified his attacks saying that “the fact of the matter is he’s going to have to face up to this at some time or another.” Hannity wasn’t satisfied with this answer, asking Perry whether he was saying “that Mitt Romney is a vulture capitalist, that he is unethical.” Perry specified that he thought what happened with two specific companies bought by Bain was “irresponsible,” and that “the folks in South Carolina agree with that.” Hannity replied that it was still “as severe as they can get” as far as attacks go, though Perry insisted there were places where Bain had “destroyed people’s lives.”

Odd, they said the same thing on Fox n Friends this morning. How would the two make the same comparison?

Almost as if someone is writing a script.

We’re being played for fools.

Are you the only person in the known universe who doesn’t know about Mitt Romney putting his dog in the luggage rack on top of his car for a vacation journey.

Well, google it.

And it does sound like you’re defending Romney.

I see a lot of people here saying, ‘I’m not defending Romney’ while they do just that.

I’m starting to despise Hannity.

Levin and Hannity should switch time slots...Hannity damages the conservative movement. He's GREAT for 'moderates'.

Hannity hasn’t the mental horsepower required to be a leaf blower.

Wow...post of the day, and it isn't even noon on the East Coast. Sweet.

Oh, grow up.

Apparently your candidate is Santorum. He was an afterthought until he spent a year in Iowa visiting nursing homes and managed to win Iowa.

Now that he is perceived to be in the top echelon, people are noticing what a bad candidate he is.

He doesn’t look presidential; he wasn’t a true conservative in the Senate; he managed to antagonize his constituents after his senate tenure so much that they voted overwhelmingly for a democrat against him.

And he wears those dam Mr. Rogers sweaters all the time.

I am sick of people who want other candidates to drop out so their candidate can win.

Your candidate needs to win on his own.

Twelve delegates, and the game is OVER??? Somebody should have told the Texas Rangers about ending games early, and they could have won the frickin’ World Series after all...

Gingrich and Perry don’t really stand for anything other than their own advancement. That’s why they’ll use an Occupy Wall Street slogan to attack Romney. No conservative would use that kind of language.

Face it, Gingrich and Perry are a joke and only out for themselves.

So conservatives should only support capitalism as long as there’s no risks involved and nobody has a chance of losing money?

lol.

I saw the interview last night, and in fact mentioned it on another thread just after it happened. Hannity’s behavior and demeanor were disgraceful. The expression on his face was one of open dislike and contempt. Now, I’ve seen that look on Hannity’s face many times when talking to leftwingers, but never to a fellow conservative. He clearly invited Perry there to sandbag him.

Thank you. I’m glad to see that others are finally seeing Limbaugh for the fraud he is. He talks conservative but boy give him one trip to the Lincolin bedroom at the WH and boy he’s all for the establishment candidates and the RNC.

He’s Rove’s little....u fill in the blank.

You are incredibly naive.

All candidates for president think highly of themselves and think they are right for the job.

I don’t want a namby pamby president. I want a strong, confident one.

Newt attacked Romney a little too hard and a little too wrong because he had been driven temporarily insane by Romney spreading lies about him.

Perry was sincere and he thinks Romney’s business practices were less than ethical.

No one who knows anything about Texas could ever think or imply that Perry is anti-business. He’s created a climate in Texas that welcomes business and business is coming.

It’s a large state with large problems complicated by the population growth of illegals, let in by your president and who refuse to leave Texas and go on to where you live.

Who can blame them.

Try not to trash up threads with idiotic statements. Say something or say nothing.

“Now, wait a doggone minute. Perry did attack Romney (nothin’ wrong with that) but not in an anti-capitalist way. He used the term ... ‘not against venture capitalism but against vulture capitalism.’

Some people perceive Mitt as one of those corporate raiders who took over companies, gutted them, and put lots of people out of work.

Being against that is not anti-capitalism.

Don’t follow the mainstream media in this people.

Romney put his dog on top of his car. I’ll believe anything bad about a man like that.”

THANK YOU. I am more than a little tired of hearing our own side claim that pointing out unethical business practices is somehow “anti-capitalist.” Even Rush was pushing it yesterday. Sorry, it doesn’t wash.

I think you can tell a lot about a person by the way they treat animals. Romney strapped his dog on top of his car and took off down the highway, while Perry spent his early years as a veterinary assistant and in fact planned to become a vet. Immaterial to some, maybe, but not to me.

Reasonable people should be able to distinguish between ‘Venture’ Capitalism and ‘Vulture’ Capitalism. It was exploitation of the American worker that bred the union movement to begin with... back then, workers needed protection from excessive practices of the robber barons. Newt and Perry have acknowledged that abuses exist within the capitalist system. They have not come out against the capitalist system... huge difference.
