I wonder what the Gov’s motivation was for his actions, pardoning criminals? Any logical answers???

Got to be a lot of money, because with these pardons, Barbour has ended any future political aspirations he has.

Logical? Absolutely not. It would be interesting if anyone could shed light on Barbour’s reasoning but as I said on another thread, nothing could justify these actions.

They were recommended to him by wardens- or through some such process.
That’s how they got the jobs at the state’s Goveronor’s Mansion.
He took a look at them there and agreed and acted.

The pardons went to individuals who has served as cleaning and staff in the Gov.’s Mansion for 8 years.
It is customary to pardon trustee’s who distinguished themselves in this way. The CNN story omits how many past Governors have done the exact same thing.

I used to get my hackles up when people called the Republicans the “Stupid Party”.
I used to think Barbour was a good guy with a future in the GOP.
No more to either assumption.

Old tradition, that’s all.
Massive SNAFU! Glad the judge got involved. Trustees should never be murderers.

Logic does not seem to be involved here. Bribery, retribution, perhaps dementia even are guesses. This is very illogical and illegal. The politicians all seem to be losing their heads and their swelled egos may have driven them into the madness dictators experience. And Obama is one of the many nuts of the political persuasion.

I’m going to take a wild guess and theorize that Haley is collecting a little payola on the way out the door to feather his retirement nest. Remember when he was being touted as a great guy to run for President?

The republicans are doing all kind of things to help the democrats. Holding up unemployment and the payroll deduction right before Christmas was also to help the democrats. They KNEW both would be extended eventually but they prolonged it to make themselves look bad. It’s obvious “we the people” haven’t been of value for a long time.

Suppose the Gov was being threatened by members of the Sinaloa cartel, or his family was. They might pressure him to release one or more of their people. To cover that absurd pardon, the Gov might have pardoned a lot of others to hide the Sinaloa deal.
Just a thought.

I sure cannot think of ONE logical explanation for these pardons!
It has certainly given lib-dem bloggers fuel for their anti-repub rhetoric.
And I certainly cannot disagree with their arguments against these pardons.
