Bolton "would seriously consider serving" in DoD under Ron Paul
Washington Post ^ | 01/10/2011 | Allen McDuffee

In an apparent change of heart, former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton said he would “seriously consider” serving under Ron Paul after previously saying that Paul’s foreign policy is worse than President Obama’s.

On Fox Business Channel’s Freedom Watch with Judge Andrew Napolitano, Bolton said “I would seriously consider serving in a Department of Defense under Ron Paul, if asked,” according to Napolitano’s Twitter and Facebook accounts.

Just two weeks ago, Bolton said on Sean Hannity’s Fox News show that Ron Paul’s foreign policy is “worse than the Obama administration.”

“That’s why I think the debate on the Republican side is so important and why when I see — I have to be candid — a candidate like Ron Paul whose foreign policy is, if anything, worse than the Obama administration apparently leading in Iowa according to some polls, it just gives me great concern,” Bolton said.

A request for comment has been submitted to Bolton.

Update 11:24: Bolton emails: “Although the likelihood of such a scenario is remote, I would serve to try to persuade Ron Paul toward a more realistic posture in defending the United States and its worldwide interests.”

Gov’t teat. He’s like most. He’d bite it of rather than give it up.

All the more reason why we shouldn’t care about Bolton’s endorsement of Romney.

Seriously, this guy always talks a big game—but does he actually *do* anything? Not that I can recall. It’s the same sort of deal as we see with folks like Chris Christie. All big talk, no real action.

Get Paul to get Bolton? I think not. I think Paul is as big a thug as Obama is.

Weird, under a Paul presidency there would be no DoD.

I have to admit I don’t know what to make of this. Also the endorsement of Mitt Romney. These things just don’t square with my impression of Bolton.

The article suggests there is a disconnect. But if you thought Ron Paul had a bad foreign policy, and then he won the Presidency, and asked you to shape foreign policy for him, wouldn’t you jump at the chance, just to fix the problems you see in his worldview?

It does seem a remote possibility. Newt of course has already said he’d appoint Bolton secretary of state, and I’m guessing Mitt will give him a position to, if the rumors are true.

Maybe Bolton’s reasoning is that he’d need to be serving in the DoD to save us from Ron Paul’s foreign policy.

Dungeons of Dragons?

I’ve heard of that game. It’s quite fun.

(I know what it means, Dept of Defense).

Proof that Bolton is covering all the bases. He apparently needs a job pretty badly.

Poor John. He just needs a job. Any job. To pay his groomer, I’m sure. (Not his Saint Bernard’s.)
