The elite have spoken. And that includes Jim Demint in the shadows it seems.

Even if you combine the three “Not Romney” candidates they are behind. This is a very troubling development. For those that say we can wait to winnow out the field I hold Florida up as an example. Romney is winning in southern states due to momentum alone. Either you break the momentum or accept a Romney nomination. After SC two of the “Not Romney” candidates will need to get out if there is to be any chance of stopping Romney from locking this up.

We better concentrate on the house and senate races because I don’t think the GOP wants the white house. Things are such a mess that fixing them is going to cause some major hurt for all and the GOP doesn’t want the blame so they’d rather sit back and let the slide into socialism continue.

This is nauseating. Hopefully the right outcome in SC will bring some semblence of sanity to Florida.

Whatever Romney’s true numbers are in Florida, they will fall even more after South Carolina.

This is sickening. All these people lining up behind Romney because the establishment repeats over and over and over “he’s the only one who can beat Obama.”

Another scam. They release a “poll” showing Romney getting 35% of the vote and he gets very close. They know that if the “poll” said he’d get 35.4467% and he got 35.4467% “we the people” might question it. They’ll also put out “polls” showing how much obama will win by. Just like the “poll” showing the economy on the mend and unemployment going down.

I’ve got to come up with a new tag line. I’m not sure a “second” or “third” or “fourth” party would do any good when they’re all controlled by the ONE party. Plus the ONE party controls the vote “counting” and the press.

If Romney does squeak out a win in SC and wins by anywhere near the number shown in this poll, the race is pretty much over.

The recent endorsements [Bolton, Todd Palin, et al] have been great helps to Romney.

If this holds up, the Elite GOP can again raise a middle finger to the Tea Party and conservatives and say, ‘just like in 2008, you’ll take who we give you and like him.’

==

However, Romney is still only getting about 25-35% of the voting. A sincere, coalesced effort of the remaining 65-75%, excluding 20% for Paul, would still be enough to push a conservative to the forefront.

That means two of the three [Santorum, Gingrich, Perry] must drop out soon and throw their support to the remaining one. Will that happen or will we see a repeat of 2008 with hucka-hangers-on fighting to the bitter end and splitting the conservative vote just enough to give the Elites’ Preferred the edge?

A) Our Primary system sucks. We should have a National Primary Day. Sorry FReepers in Iowa, NH, SC and FL but why are your votes more important than mine?

B) Please email me with breaking news, especially if the Hitler from Venezuela or Iran dies because I am done with the news period! I'll stick with Whale War threads, Sports and Video Games. (I seriously found out about the Hitler from North Korea dying 2 weeks later because I tuned out...)

C) For the final time Rick Perry, please just go away so I can change my tagline back to "Go Bulls and Go Blackhawks!!!"

Now what? About 130,000 have supposedly given Romney this “unstopable” surge and opposition people seem to be capitulating right and left. This is what happens when people try to pick a candidate based on “looks Presidential” or “can beat Obama”. Because, after all, Bachmann is too shrill, Cain is an accused sexual deviant, and Perry is as dumb as a box of rocks (super-mega sarc intended).

Romney is John Kerry Jr. I posted this article from Slate magazine that was written in 2004. The Democrats thought the same fallacious reasoning about Kerry being “more electable” and “could beat Bush” would win him the Election. It obviously didn’t. And now the Republicans are prepared to make the same mistake.

Don’t get me wrong. Romney could probably squeak by an Electoral victory, but what is it worth? The establishment would have regained control and any gains made in Congress would be lost. And most likely, in 2016, we would have Romney going up against another one of these liberal messiahs in the making that is Andrew Cuomo. If you care about social issues, the future looks bleak.

The Tea Party is going to have to become more formally organized so that candidates can be clearly vetted so what happens this year with defections doesn’t happen again.

Maybe things will chage in the upcoming weeks and Newt or Santorum or even a new entrant will emerge, but this just flat out sucks.

http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_politics/ballot_box/2004/02/kerried_away.html
(Just change the name of Kerry to Romney, Bush to Obama, Dean to Gingrich, and Edwards to Santorum, and you’ve got almost exactly the same situation)

I don’t like a single one of them. I heard Newt on Hannity yesterday and all I could hear was a petty, petulant, childish boor. There is not a single candidate worth a damn in the race. We, at the risk of waxing dramatic, are doomed..

I don’t care what anyone says, we have lame candidates. And why is that? Because the GOP sucks. Rather than stand a year of scrutiny and I admit it will be a very harsh leftist media scrutiny, they put up someone that they think the NYT will not be mean to. Pathetic, simply pathetic, yet mere speculation of a 3rd party invites derision and scorn.
How did it ever get this bad?

Driving the herd with the inevitability whip.

Florida is still a ways away. If a Not Romney can stop Romney in S.C. and get some coalescing then things can change.

Perception/momentum is the key - powerful stuff for the great unwashed.

The fix is in. A pro-abortion, pro-gay, huge-government liberal with an “R” after his name versus a pro-abortion, pro-gay, huge-government incumbent.

Pick your poison, America.
