Perry Loses Key SC Donor To Romney after Attack on Romney

Presidential candidate Rick Perry's criticism of Mitt Romney's business past has cost him the support of a prominent South Carolina Republican.

Investment fund executive and top GOP donor Barry Wynn told The Associated Press Thursday that he's leaving the Perry fold to endorse Romney. Wynn says he was irritated by Perry's attacks on Romney's time at the helm of the private equity firm Bain Capital.

As Wynn put it, "It's like fingernails on the chalkboard."

Perry struck hard this week at Romney's work at Bain Capital. The firm sometimes turned big profits even as companies it invested in went under and people lost their jobs.

By Thursday, Perry had backed away from that line of attack after days of calling Romney a "vulture capitalist."

“Anyone that destroys someone else’s life to make himself richer is not fit to be a dogcather, much less president of the United States.”

Bain Capital didn't destroy anyone’s life. It was the messenger of bad news, not the cause of it. Bain’s private equity line of business invested in troubled or failing companies and tried to turn them into profitable ones. The workers at these companies were screwed by bad management and/or high wage union contracts long before Bain came into the picture. Contrary to what the MSM (and, unfortunately, some people on FR) claim, Bain capital didn't buy successful companies and loot them. Successful companies are too expensive for firms like Bain.

One thing is crystal clear. Anyone that destroys someone else’s life to make himself richer is not fit to be a dogcather, much less president of the United States.

From what I understand and maybe I don’t have all the info but had Bain not stepped in an saved these companies, they would have failed completely and everyone would have lost their jobs. I mean it is one of those things where some get hurt or they all do. I think it is incredible that they saved so many companies and some people even got rehired. Look at Sport’s Authority and Dominoes. They would be gone without Bain and now look at all the people working there. I just don’t understand your anti-capitalism. Very conservative unlike behavior and disappointing. There are tons of things to bash Romney on and this one is not one of them.

You are repeating the communist mantra.

As is Newt, just like he went against assault rifles.

Newt and Perry are losing on this.

I Do not live in Texas which is why I stated that my first real exposure to the guy (other than reading about him winning elections) was an offhanded remark stating that conservatives are heartless. i may have paraphrased but you get the idea. add to that the fact that in the middle of a debate he forgot a major point which his opponents tried to actually help him with and he cuts a very unimpressive figure.

However, I have no problem with the way a firm like Bain Capital operates.

I have no problem with the way a lot of things operate that are on the moral edge, but I don't like the idea of promoting someone like that to be President for two reasons: One, it offends me. Two, it's suicidal.

One company alone lost 15,000 workers. Two of the factories that Bain closed down are located in SC. Perry has talked to the people that lost everything. From the minute that Romney and his “capitalists” came in the people’s pay and benefits were cut! You can bet your bottom that Romney’s pay has never been cut. That asshole has never had to worry where the next meal comes from, or whether he’s got the money to buy his kid a pair of shoes to wear to school. A few months later, with Bain OWNING the company, every damn body that had worked there for years, WERE FIRED! The factory was gutted, everything in it, shipped out of the state, sometimes overseas, where slaves work for a $1 an hour. The millions start rolling in for Romney’s thugs, while the people in SC have to go on welfare or starve to death.

This SOB Romney is as low as a snake. Destroying the life of one person so you can put 1000 people to work, and in the process reap millions for yourself if a pathetic way to make a fortune. These filty rich Mormans have been doing these unethical tactics for years. In the days of Brigham Young it was nothing to kill the baby girl because these morons figured the more sons you have the quicker you make it to happen. A bunch of sick bastards.

“Newt & Perry’s attacks on capitalism were disgraceful.”

I COULD NOT agree more. Newt’s attacks on Capitalism were HORRIBLE. It’s time for Newt to throw in the towel. Now Perry, well, he was only trying to help the Republican Party by giving Newt cover for his HORRIBLE attacks on capitalism. Sure, Perry sounded a bit like Newt, but what choice did he have, in the name of party unity. Go Perry!!!

(my imitation of a Perry Girl)

“I doubt if Perry is worried about it. I’m beginning to think that he’ll be president......in 2016”

Most children take more than 4 years to mature...maybe 2020, at best.

I’ve told you folks for weeks that Rick Perry is dumb as a coal bucket. After SC, he will tuck tail and run back to Texas. The fumb duck.
