COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney said Wednesday he has "an uphill climb" to win South Carolina's presidential primary but is ready to defend himself from the "underbelly" of politics in a state known for bare-knuckled tactics.

[Snip]

"I hope no one associated with any of my effort, whether it's my own campaign or anyone else that's supporting me, I hope none of them do anything that departs from the truth," he said.

The SC fix is in for Romney. Shame on DeMint and Haley for selling out so soon.

Just heard a Romeny radio ad on 99.7 The Fox while riding thru Charlotte.

It’s a nasty, mean-spirited, back-stabbing, anti-Newt ad.

We don’t need this type of political hate. We need politicians that can tell us how they’re gonna fix the USA.

He’s downplaying expectations so that if he came in 3rd or 4th he would still appear to come out looking like the “winner”.

You MR. “Believe in America?”

WTF does that mean?

Define that, Romney.

LOL

That’s what I do when I know I’m going to lose.

“Whudjuh spect?”.

Can’t wait for this A-Hole to get his drubbing by the South.

I might even start whistling Dixie and put the flag in my rear window.

Downplaying expectations already. He’s in trouble in SC and he knows it.

Don't you just love the quote in the article from the phony himself, lying about how he hopes "nobody associated with him... departs from the truth"?

I heard two yesterday here in Charlotte. Lucky us...so close to the SC border we get to listen to this crap yet can’t retaliate at the polls.

That's exactly what they are--sell outs. There is no reason to endorse Romney now unless you have been purchased.

I'll never send another dime to Demint. He's a tool and a phony.

DeMint sold out to Mitch McConnell.

It’s all about the Senate and the power that will be doled out by a Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. The RINOs don’t care if Obama is re-elected or not. It’s all about the Senate.

Romney winning in SC, one of the most evangelical Christian, conservative states in the country, would be an absolute joke. If the three conservatives running against him can’t convince the voters in SC that Romney is a fake and fraud pro-abort, pro-homo marriage, 2nd amendment opponent, there is no chance for any of them to win the nomination. I do find it hard to believe that anyone that knows how to read can not come to the same conclusion everyone else has on this board. Romney’s liberal record is an open book. He needs to be in the other party. If the state of SC goes for this liberal it’s not too long before they go democratic in the general election. Anyone that votes for Romney in SC is not a consevative and they should quit calling themselves conservative.

Went to the Romney rally in Columbia last night in an old warehouse converted to a dancehall which was overflowing and satellite trucks were everywhere.

Outside the entrance a man approached my wife and me and held out cash and said “how much for your vote?” He and his assistant held signs saying “Romney-Gekko 2012”.

Usual stemwinder, no surprises. Nikki Haley said James Clyburn and his posse appeared outside her office and denounced Romney by name. She claimed this proves Dems fear Romney more than the other Republicans.

Wish I had heard Santorum but that was in another town.

Nikki Haley is a flop and not likely to be re-elected...she’s angling for the Michelle Bachmann Romney VP job.
