Bill pending in CA would require schools to let boys play on girls’ teams, share ‘facilities’

News from the Pacific Justice Institute

Less than a week after California’s gay history mandate went into effect, a new pro-LGBT bill introduced last week promises to stir even more controversy.

AB 266, sponsored by Assemblyman and comedian Tom Ammiano (D-San Francisco), would require schools to allow students to participate on sports teams according to their “gender identity,” not their biological sex.

This is no joke. That means that a boy who claims that he identifies as female would have the right to try out for the girls’ basketball team, potentially taking away an opportunity from a girl who might otherwise make the team.

“This bill will potentially turn long established federal law that provides equal opportunities for boys and girls to participate in school athletics on its head,” said chief counsel Kevin Snider.

But that’s not all. The bill also mandates access to opposite-sex “facilities,” apparently including locker rooms.

According to its text, “This bill would require that a pupil be permitted to participate in sex-segregated school programs, activities, and facilities, including athletic teams and competitions, consistent with his or her gender identity, irrespective of the gender listed on the pupil’s records.”

Critics say the implications of the bill are staggering. One such critic is Brad Dacus, president of Pacific Justice Institute, which will be opposing the bill.

“Those afflicted with Gender Identity Disorder need professional counseling and our compassion, not more mandates that do not serve the best interests of our children,” he said.

Thank you! I will definitly keep that in mind. I’m not scared of mountains, I’m scared of flats... I did visit your state once and I was dumbstruck the whole time! There seemed to be only two kinds of plants, and the terrain seemed as flat as a pancake. I live surrounded by mountians. Nice and cozy...

:-

But I do love swimming in the ocean. Not possible around here. Have to drive for hours to get any ocean warm enough.

I don’t like the south part of the state at all, flat, hot, loads of north east liberals and traffic, however we are not far from GA, on the line of the bible belt, plenty of land but we do have to drive to the mountains though the warm ocean is only a mile away as the crow flies that is LOL

We as GA have some very hundreds of years old oaks which are beautiful too.

The town is nice where I am though I live just outside it .
Just heard today food lion which was just built is now closing all their stores which means we now have to travel back into town for a super market.
We do have many family owned stores though, and we go the local greengrocers, next door a fish mongers with fresh fish, my oldest is in the owners daughters class so we get treated well and then the bakery next door to that.

And no rats running the county LOL

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL

This ping list is for the “other” articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)

The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.

I should have ‘Meteorology Rocks’ put on a shirt.

I have a radar image of Hurricane Andrew as my screensaver.

It’s astonishing how big that storm was. I can’t begin to imagine how terrifying it must have been for the people who lived through it and for those who died and knew they were about to.
