Dick Smith, an Australian entrepreneur and member of the Australian Skeptics group has promised to give $200,000 to the Byron New Energy Charitable Trust if he can be convinced that the E-Cat is a valid technology. Andrea Rossi is to appear via Skype to discuss his technology at a community meeting in Mullumbimby, New South Wales, Australia at the Ex-Services Club tonight (January 13th)

Smith has tasked Ian Bryce, an aerospace engineer to assess Rossi’s technology on his behalf, and if both are satisfied, the funds will be donated to the charity.

More information can be found at this article in today’s Sydney Morning Herald.

So, will Rossi allow the $200,000 to go to the charity? Or will he come up with yet another excuse to avoid any sort of independent testing of his gadget? Stay tuned!

So it seems! LINK

According to THIS link, he has an unclaimed prize for anyone who can prove paranormal powers. This suggests that he is interested in proving new things, but he's not gullible about it.

I'm waiting for the Rossi fanboys to discover this thread, and explain to all of us why Rossi shouldn't allow any independent testing, even though the failure to do so make Rossi look like a con man.

It is, supposedly, a "cold fusion" nuclear reactor by Andrea Rossi, an Italian entrepreneur and "inventor".

Over the last year, Rossi has put on about a dozen dog & pony shows, supposedly showing his device producing excess heat.

There is considerable dispute about whether he has a genuine breakthrough or whether it's just an investment scam.

On the one hand, several cold fusion researchers are willing to give Rossi the benefit of the doubt (although none of them have ever seen inside the reactor, and none of them claim to understand how it works).

On the other hand, Rossi has an extensive history of financial fraud convictions and jail time in Italy, and he has consistently refused to allow anyone to perform any independent tests of his device.

To wrap up:

According to THIS post, Rossi was a no-show.

Yet another chance for Rossi to actually demonstrate that he's legitimate, yet another example of Rossi refusing to do so.
