Obama asks for power to streamline government (Hussein and media will portray him as Reagan!)

In what could lead to a big reorganization of the federal government, the Associated Press reports that President Obama will ask Congress for the power to merge departments and agencies to help streamline government and improve efficiency.

The president's first priority would be combine the trade and commerce departments, according to a senior administration official.

The president would request fast-track consolidation authority that would allow him to propose agency mergers that would then be subject to an up-or-down vote from Congress within 90 days. Under the terms of the president's proposal, lawmakers would still need to grant the president the the fast-track authority and approve each of his proposals.

Listen to this line from the Ben Feller butt kissing article:
“The White House said the problem is serious for consumers who turn to their government for help...”

By the way, Hussein promised to FIX this NEARLY A YEAR AGO! In his last State of the Union Lie Festival, he said he would work on needed reorganization. Now, at the beginning of an election year, he suddenly gets religion.

I guess all those golf games got in the way of his Reagan-esque plans.

Implementing socialized healthcare isn’t exactly streamlining government. Who is he kidding.

It’s apparent we have no one strong enough, willing enough or even has the sense enough, to take down the evil in our government. Maybe there’s not enough on our side to do something, but it’s frustrating beyond words, that NO ONE even SPEAKS about this crap.

I mean, I KNOW we have some good guys in our government. But it seems only Allen West is the only one actually saying anything close to what is going on. Where is everyone else? Are they complicit or just too cowardly?

In any case every day I keep praying God will intervene somehow with the daily destruction of our country. I believe it’s going to now take an act of God to remove this corrupt, tyrannical, MARXIST government from the US.

God help us.

I am suspiscious of anything the boy king does.

We not only could merge these Depart, ment we copuld do away with some of them, but still I suspect Obama has an ulterior motive.

As for the Congress, that is another thing that could be done away with. Obama may as well run the whole thing from his office, the Congress lets him do that anyway. We could save a ton of money just doing away with them.

Nice of him to pretend that congress is still relevant. If they balk, will he simply sigh, say he gave them their chance to participate, and do as he pleases for “the people?”

It’d sure be handy if as many as possible were merged with the new CFPB which isn’t dependent on Congress for funding, has broad powers and is virtually unaccountable.

Didn’t Jar Jar Binks and the Imperial Senate give emergency powers to the Chancellor in the Star Wars series? Didn’t that lead to the Clone Wars?

Never, ever give unconstitutional, emergency powers to a US President!!!

Government agencies that WILL not be streamlined:

1) EPA
2) Dept of Education
3) IRS
4) ATF
5) Housing and Urban Development
6) National Endowment for the Arts
7) National Labor Relations Board
8) Minority Business Development Agency
9) DEA
10) Office of Elementary and Secondary Education

All government agencies are equal, some more equal then others.

We do not need one large Federal department doing what two smaller departments shouldn't be doing.

Efficiency does not result from putting what is unnecessary, wasteful and counterproductive under central command.

If one's goal is power, however, consolidation of governmental functions irrespective of merit or validity would serve to accomplish it.

I have it straight thanks. and I’ve had it straight for a lot longer than I’ve been on this message board.

You see, I love my country enough to see that I don’t want to continue to have America hater as president. I would rather vote for the lights handler at the debates because he’s more qualified than Obama.

But yea, let’s stay home in November just so we can accelerate the destruction of the country because four more years of Obama are just what the country needs. We all look into the crystal ball and know exactly what a Newt or Romney or a Perry administration will do, so given that prophetic foresight, we should just stay home for the next 40 years or so and wait until the clone of Reagan arrives to save us.

Even so, at first glance I’m inclined to agree with this move.

Anything this president and Congress does needs significantly more scrutiny.

We do not need any more 'pass it so we can find out what is in it' bills. Congress, with the like of McCain, McConnell, Reid, Pelosi, etc., have a history of burying provisions deep inside these kinds of bills.

Reagan said 'trust, but verify.'

I don't trust any of them!!

fast-track consolidation authority

Where leftist spin is concerned, that's a real beaut.

More accurate: "Election-year power-grab."

Obama is channeling his inner Ron Paul? Probably not, I think the money line is "Obama to ask the Congress for more power"
