In a way, I want to see them try this. Social networking involves myriad political and social ideologies, and there would be absolutely no quicker way for this failure of an administration to isolate themselves than to start shutting down the sites that Internet-addicted teens and twenty-somethings use minute-by-minute.

I would say that it’s not intended to shut down sites, per se; it’s intended to find, fix, and isolate individuals posting things that they find disagreeable, and then use the coercive power of the fed to basically intimidate and otherwise make you disappear - one way or another.
They are testing thought crime technology!

You're missing something here - they're not after 'social networking sites' - they're after people who disagree with the Liberal Establishment. They're totalitarians. The modern day equivalent of the SS - - the petty dictator's 'secret police' ...
