In another ghoulish, hard-to-believe story, the Des Moines Register is reporting that a Huxley, Iowa, mother has been arrested for allegedly killing her newborn twin girls. No reason has been given for the murders that Jackie Burkle, 22, is accused of committing. Her co-workers told authorities that Burkle looked pregnant on Thursday but not on Saturday.

I've been following this story. I think there's a lot more to it than we know at this point. No matter, two twin girls are resting in peace with the Lord. Stories like this bother me.

If I recall correctly, this woman lived across the street from a firehouse. She could have easily walked over/or called them to retrieve the infants who could have been placed with loving parents. They could have been loved, cared for and given a life. Instead... they were placed in a vehicle trunk like you would common household trash. Disgusting.

“””Burkle was arrested and charged with two counts of first degree murder. If convicted of the crimes, she could be in prison for the entirety of her life. She is now being held on $1 million dollars bond”””””

Isn’t it ironic/ sick/ sad that if a doctor would have killed these babies a few months earlier it would have been called a CHOICE, not MURDER?

The current U.S. president would probably classify this as nothing more than a “late-term” abortion. After all, as he said, even if she made a mistake, she shouldn't be “punished with a baby”, or two...

Months? It's legal (or enforcement of laws are judicially blocked) in most places to kill them right up until normal birth. Very sad statement on our society.

Perhaps she was imitating Casey Anthonys' method but couldn't get to a dump site in time. Prayers for the innocent children.

I had actually wondered that myself (similar to Casey Anthony). What is infuriating to me is there are services to help women who want to relinquish their children for adoption. Tons of them. She could have simply walked over to the firehouse or contacted a adoption agency. She could have given birth in the hospital and their social services could have helped. She could have chosen a closed adoption (where her name was never released) or an open one (where she may have contacted them as adults). At this very moment, I know NINE couples that would have adopted those babies. I am betting there are thousands of couples who pray every night for that blessing. Just sad.

I am at a loss for words when I hear or see stories like this. My husband and I tried for years to have a child, and then through the miracle of IVF we have our beautiful, brilliant daughter. She was a twin, but her sister passed away at 3 months gestation. Losing her devastated my husband and myself. How anyone can be so selfish as to kill two beautiful, innocent babies is beyond me. Your point they are resting with the Lord brings me peace.

I am so sorry for your loss. And I’m happy for your blessing of a daughter. People don’t know how hard it is when they want kids and can’t have them. Stories like this bring a whole new pain to them.

Have a blessed day!

I fail to see a problem, here.

It's just a very late-term abortion. That's a Sacred Constitutional Right, emanating from the penumbra of the Fourth ...

A child is only a “choice.”

This is a very rare thing in Iowa. Sounds to me like her cookies weren’t fully baked.
