BELLEVUE, WA – This week’s revelation by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that homicide is no longer among the leading causes of death in the United States – at a time when gun ownership is at an all-time high – shows that the gun ban lobby has been wrong, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms said today.
“The CDC’s report for 2010 that removes homicide from the top 15 leading causes of death in this country coincides with a period of record high gun ownership,” said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb. “At the same time, increasing numbers of citizens have obtained concealed carry permits and licenses. This is pretty strong evidence that rising gun ownership does not translate to more violence and murder.”
Gottlieb, co-author of the newly-released SHOOTING BLANKS: Why Facts Don’t Matter to the Gun Ban Crowd with Dave Workman, noted that the CDC has long been a source of data exploited by gun prohibitionists.
“I wonder how anti-gunners will try to spin this report,” he mused. “Gun control extremists will have a hard time explaining how, after years of repeated predictions and warnings that more guns in private hands will result in more mayhem, that homicides are no longer among the top causes of death in the United States.
“Gun banners can’t have it both ways,” Gottlieb continued. “If the data had shown murders on the increase, you can bet your life savings that they would be screaming ‘We told you so!’ on every front page in America.”
Gottlieb said the CDC report is just one more demonstration of how wrong anti-gunners have been in their campaign of fear against private gun ownership.
“This new information correlates with national crime trends over the past few years, showing declining violent crime while gun ownership has increased,” he concluded. “You simply can no longer demonize gun ownership or the Second Amendment as a leading cause of crime.”
Doesn’t matter, the anti-gun crowd do not care about the murder rate or individual deaths. They hate guns and crime is only a tool they’ll use to further their cause.
IMHO its about control of the individual and consolidation of power within the government.
Liberals aren’t interested in facts.
The fact that there are ANY homicides proves that guns are still the problem and guns cause crime and if there were a total ban on guns and the second amendment was repealed then there wouldn’t be any crime. < /Liberal excuse rant >
The purpose of the anti-gun-lobby is to make crime safer for criminals.

Thats not true. Its a myth they’ve worked hard to promote. Very few on the left hate guns and many many are gun owners. What they hate is for you to own them. They’re OK but you aren’t. In fact despite all the huffing/puffing the left has no problem w/ any sort of violence as long as it promotes their agenda.
If by that you mean gang-bangers, OK. If by that you mean middle class leftists, then your experience is opposite mine. I lived in San Francisco for 12 years and almost everyone I knew hated guns, feared them and didn't own them. They felt only militia kooks owned guns and anyone who did was a danger to themselves and their families.
I knew hundreds of people in the bay area, at least casually, and any talk of guns usually set them off on a rant about the dangers of guns, why would anybody need them, they are only for police and military. And speaking of the military, they generally hated them as well.
OK, I'll add one caveat. Many of the Korean & Vietnamese leftists I knew owned guns for self-defense. But almost none of the whites. The white leftists all thought that owning a gun was more dangerous to them than it was to any potential attacker.
They hate your ability to resist them when they want to use force to impose their will on you.
This is a dead giveaway that they INTEND to use force to impose their will on you.

Thats right. They view anyone not a liberal w/ their agenda as inferior in all ways. The left has never hesitated to use force to impose their view points on others.
This idea liberals hate guns & violence must be debunked. TOo many here are naive enough to believe the myth.
