President Barack Obama will ask Congress on Friday for authority to close the Commerce Department and create a new export agency, an overhaul that could save $3 billion and help inoculate him against Republican election-year charges that he is a big-government liberal.

White House budget official Jeffrey Zients told reporters the reorganization would fold together the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative and other trade bodies now spread across Washington, giving businesses a single point of contact and ensuring federal spending goes further to boost exports.

Given the power grab back in 2009, how does this effect the Census Bureau? Does it play out together?

I am really concerned about this guys, can someone help me put it together. I just know it is connected somehow.

He wants to close an agency and replace it with a new agency to the tune of several billion dollars. How does this shield him from charges of being a Big Government liberal? Now, if he announced that he wanted to shutter the EPA...
Wanna bet that the plan for the new agency includes some mechanism to place oversight and control in the Executive Branch?

Tell him to close HHS, Dept. Of Ed., EPA, and HUD along with it, and we’ll think about it...

What is amusing is that the proposed budget for the new agency isn’t mentioned. Also, why create a new export agency unless he plans on the new agency being largely answerable to him.

All part of the design.

Indeed. With this sneaky, misbegotten jackass, you bet that somewhere in the details is something that is detrimental to the Republic. My guess is that he wants a means to personally control technology transfers to a host of thugocracies.

He plans to bring in foreign manufacturing firms that will need to “export” their goods. He wants, and needs control.

Again, there is no need to create a new agency. These agencies could be rolled-up into the Dept. of Commerce now and reduce the staffs accordingly to avoid redundancies in personnel. There is something hidden in the fine details of Obummer's plan (a plan which you can bet was concocted by someone other than Obummer).

I would not give Obama ANYTHING he asked for. There is always an ulterior motive. Always. Give him NOTHING.

The Bent One thought he had it good with Ron Brown. Zero’s move would be a game changer for tech transfers and like Clinton, they would be hitched to campaign contributions.

If you're going to cease and create in the same breath, we have no idea of the implications.

Would rather see Congress steer this.

Remember, those special 12 couldn't agree on one damn cut.

Cut governement wages and pensions. In fact...nopension for reps....that'll keep them from making a career out of it.

Oh, how history repeats. One thing to remember is that government schools have no interest in teaching about liberty and tyranny. Given that we have a population totally ignorant of the principles and history and ideas behind the Founding.

Teachers have no idea and those that do are liberals and think that Fascism is rightwing. We’ve been dumbed down for democracy and democracy always leads to tyranny. Can it be turned around?

As a life-long bookkeeper, I can assure you all that closing one entity & opening another to ‘save money’ rarely does such.

You are discarding expensive stationary, logo identities, laying off people who will drain your unemployment accounts & put you into a higher bracket with the new entity.

The new entity must create it’s logo ID, print all new invoices, stationary, business cards, etc. They must paint new colors on buildings. They must change over titles on all vehicles. They must change over leases on any leased equipment. They must change over all bank accounts. They must change over all rental & lease agreements on buildings, etc. Some of such changes could include penalties.

They will automatically be put into the highest bracket for state unemployment costs as a new entity. They will have legal costs in filing state & Federal papers for the new entity. The accounting records will have to produce double the payroll records for the year, as employees will have worked for 2 different entities. They will be paying lawyers & accounts to complete all this changeover.

None of this is cheap-—Any savings will have to take at least a couple of years to manifest themselves.

Anytime Barry the Imposter says he will save us money, grab your backsides. You are about to get shafted even more!!!!
