Excerpt: Rush on Romney quote: "He'll Roll Back...Liberalism"
Rush Limbaugh radio program transcript ^ | Jan. 13, 2012 | Rush Limbaugh

--snip--

CALLER: Oh, yeah, we got bulldoze him. [Romney] He's gotta know there is no safe haven. If he's gonna represent the Republican ticket then he's gonna have to --

RUSH: Let me tell you something I heard him say --

CALLER: All right.

RUSH: -- that I don't know that he's said publicly. He said, if he wins, he thinks he'll only last one term.

CALLER: Now, are you talking about Obama or are you talking about Romney?

RUSH: He says that he is going to roll back all the stuff the left has done. He's gonna ban Obamacare. He's gonna fix Medicaid. He's gonna take on Social Security. He says, (paraphrasing) "I've got four years to save this country, and if I succeed I'm gonna be so hated, I may not get reelected."

CALLER: Well, I'll tell you what --

RUSH: And what he means by that is the media and the left is gonna come after him like crazy, because he is going to be taking on every one of their sacred cows.

This is what I want to hear, if righting our listing ship of state really is Romney's intention!

There's plenty of reason to be leery of Mitt Romney. However, one thing I am confident of is that the Romney of today is genuinely more conservative than when he governed Massachusetts. How much more is the question.

Comments like those above from a conservative stalwart like Rush Limbaugh are heartening.

Romney doesn’t change, he just says whatever is politically expedient.

He’s a milquetoast technocrat with no core convictions or ideas, which isn’t much different than Obama (well, at least Obama is a Saul Alinsky radical at heart).

Gads, what has Rush been smoking? Why doesn’t he just get behind a conservative in the first place?

I have a lot of respect for ElRushbo, but I can’t believe he is so gullible that he would believe Romney.

“the Romney of today is genuinely more conservative than when he governed Massachusetts.”

Define “genuinely.”

Romney is more dangerous, because he is more stealth about implementing liberalism......Obama is easier to counter, because he is so blatant about it. Romney will piss on your leg, then tell you it’s raining.

I think Rush is as conflicted as everyone else this election. Still, I have to like what he was told.

Yes, I agree, there is plenty to be leery and wary of Mitt Romney, but.....after the sad perfromances of hate, emotion, lies, smears and envy coming from the mouths of Newt Gingrich and Rick Perry, Romney looks like a saint. Actually, I firmly believe that Gingrich and Perry should withdraw from the race.

Gingrich with his love and adoration of Nancy Pelosi, James Clyburn, Dede Scozzafava, the loss of NY 23, the bad mouthing of Paul Ryan, love of global warming and the individual mandate, lies about Romney, is not one of us!!! Plus, with his hate and envy, he is not wrapped too tight upstairs. Not the kind of person I want as my leader or POTUS!!!

Perry, well.......what does one say??? Not too bright and he suffers from foot-in-the-mouth sickness!!! Both Gingrich and Perry are making the GOP look bad!!! The truth will opt shortly and they both will be gone, thank God!!!

Bain owns Clear Channel & pays Rush's $400 Million contract. Rush is shilling.

He doesn't care who wins.

Funny, Rush just yesterday said Romney would have to be pressured to move to the right because his natural inclination was to move to the center or left. Which is it, El Rushbo?

Rush is the same sucker that thought Christie Todd Whitman would reform the state of New Jersey. How did that work out?

How did Arnold Schwarzenegger and Michael Bloomberg work out for Sean Hannity when he was encouraging conservatives to vote for them?

Yeah, Romney promised pro-"choicers" to faithfully defend abortion rights in Massachusetts, too. Was he lying then or he is lying now on the issue? Or doesn't he just say whatever it takes to get elected and do what is in his own best interest?

He still defends Romneycare and openly favors gays in the military and gay adoption. If he can't take a conservative stance on those issues during a primary, why should we trust him to take a conservative stance on anything when he gets into office?

It’s one thing to have to hold your nose in the general, but to have to do it the primaries....yuck!

So what has Newt offered. Tenfold what Romney suggested and more conservative and closer to Constitutional values. Hey, Rush, wake up. Newt will do it faster because once an insider and accomplished so many constitutional efforts as Speaker, what make you think Romney could be better.

It’s very possible that Romrat said those things....to a conservative SC audience.

Because you see Rino Romdom will figure out what you want to hear and then he will say it! Ain’t that grand?

The last President that had honor, integrity and real conviction was Ronald Reagan.

And Romnut is no Ronald Reagan, not even close.

So there is a rumor that Romney might be misleading people about his true beliefs and not be so bad.

This is the same thing Hillary supporters told themselves after Obama was nominated.

You're out of your mind if you want to pretend Romney is more conservative than Perry or Gingrich.

Romney's record is further than left than Obama's.

But, I guess all he needs to do is whisper sweet nothings in your ear for you to believe he is a knight in shining armor.

Unbelievable.

And you think that because of something he’s done, or just BS spewing from his noise hole?

I've been a loyal listener of Rush since about 1988, and being an "ex-radio" guy, I can admire his accomplishments on many levels, however...

I think he's being assimilated by the GOP mainstream...the RINOs. All I heard him do this past week was praise Romney, and bash Newt.

Back in the clinton days Rush thought Newt was great...had him on his show several times and sang his praises. But now, Rush has thrown Newt (and Perry), under the bus.

He can say, "Don't doubt me." all he wants, but I doubt him on this one.

Romney was a mentor of the "conservative" Scott Brown, who immediately turned back into a RINO once he was elected.

I just don't trust Massachusetts RINOs who claim to be suddenly "conservative"...does not compute.

OBAMA LIGHT, OBAMA LIGHT
