I get the feeling that gays have so thoroughly infiltrated the positions of power, that Paterno figured that trying to bust Sandusky would just result in his own ouster.
The problem at Penn I think runs much deeper than Sandusky. I think there's a large ring of powerful homosexuals there who look out for each other and will gang up on anybody who dares to take action against any of them. And that they are well represented on the Board.
I read another article that, contrary to first reports, he was not fired from PSU and was in fact placed on admin leave, but has since agreed to retire which is being negotiated now.

I have a question that perhaps you have the answer: In Ben Novak’s blog, Section V, He cites an example concerning the naming of a building wherein a living “Power Group” trustee had made a very large donation for a PSU building to be named after him. Was that building a new library and was that trustee Joe Paterno? (I found it interesting that Novak provided no names, or perhaps he intended for questions to arise.)

I'm almost certain it was not. I doubt Paterno ever was a trustee, and the author would have probably mentioned it if it was him.
