The two men involved in Friday nights fatal shooting inside 802 North Second Street were known to each other and had a romantic interest in the same woman.
Police say the woman's estranged husband, 37 year old John Allen allegedly shot and killed the woman's ex-boyfriend, 33 year old Christopher Franklin.
Allen told police after answering a knock at the door, Franklin aggressively entered and physically confronted him. Allen said that he shot Franklin in self defense.
Allen and his estranged wife told detectives that Franklin had threatened her in the past. She believed that Franklin had been watching her in recent weeks and had an active order of protection against him. The woman was not at home when Franklin came to the residence last night.
Both Allen and his estranged wife have been cooperative with detectives and were interviewed in detail at the East Precinct. No charges have been placed at present. The investigation is continuing.
Some men need to be persuaded with deadly force.
Just walk away.
THE LEFT BANK
“Walk Away Renee”
(Brown-Calilli-Sansone)
And when I see the sign that points one way
The lot we used to pass by every day
Just walk away Renee
You won’t see me follow you back home
The empty sidewalks on my block are not the same
You’re not to blame
From deep inside the tears that I’m forced to cry
From deep inside the pain that I chose to hide
Just walk away Renee
You won’t see me follow you back home
Now as the rain beats down upon my weary eyes
For me it cries
[Flute]
Just walk away Renee
You won’t see me follow you back home
Now as the rain beats down upon my weary eyes
For me it cries
Your name and mine inside a heart upon a wall
Still finds a way to haunt me, though they’re so small
Just walk away Renee
You won’t see me follow you back home
The empty sidewalks on my block are not the same
You’re not to blame
No matter how hurt, angry, humiliated, upset, etc you feel and blinded by emotion - the best thing is to walkway - clear your head and move on in a positive way.
