Juan Williams tried to pin Newt down over his “poor kids should be janitors” answer from some time ago, and tried to make it about race. Newt took the opportunity to own Williams over asking the question, and got a partial standing ovation for it in the end.

That was so great - no mincing words, no backtracking, no acceptance of his premise.

Yes I did, but I take into consideration Juan and his relationship with Newt through FOX news. He soft served Newt and served as the Dem foil. This is all political theater.

If that was a set up, then Juan must be a really good friend to Newt for allowing Newt the opportunity to make Juan Williams look like a petty vindictive race baiter. The reason I don't believe what you are saying is because Juan tried to interrupt Gingrich and debate him during his brilliant answer to the stupid question, but Gingrich just kept talking over him.
No, Juan, like everyone else on Fox, was trying to destroy Newt. Whenever that happens it seems that Newt always turns the tables.

I think Juan had a “come to Jesus” moment with the NPR crappola. He is not quite the ‘libtard” he may have been before being reamed and excoriated by the libs at NPR when he was fired.
I've got a simpler explanation. Juan Williams is a liberal who doesn't like conservatives. And Newt is a conservative cat who likes playing with liberal mice.

I don’t like Newt but that made Juan look like the overrated scumbag that he really is.
The way the question was worded was insulting and demeaning. I think Juan knew Gingrich handed him his head and after the debate Juan was just trying to save face. I was so insulted by the question that I almost threw a shoe through my TV. But Newt took the question and made Juan look like an utter fool. Juan knew he had been taken to the woodshed. I don't care what he said AFTER the debate. That question should never have been asked in the way it was asked. But thank God it was.

Much as we would like it, Newt would probably need to put a Yankee on the ticket to help calm the squeamish stomach of those squishy mushy “Yankee moderates”.
Ron Paul needs to be checked. He couldn’t stay focused. He was booed—even his cheerleaders went silent. Perry got in a great zinger with his gong comment.
