That was my first thought, too. A brilliant strategy.

If she were just any political figure, I’m sure she’d endorse him. But the press and the Dems attacked her so viciously and have been so successful in planting some bizarre image of her in people’s minds (including many GOP minds) that an open endorsement by her might well backfire and be used to whip up hatred of Gingrich. So what she did was send a message to the people who need to hear it without giving the enemy any ammunition.

Quite brilliant! I sure hope the good people of SC can stop Romney. If they could even put a serious ding in his lead, that would help.

Looks like Todd wasn’t exactly going rogue. He merely jumped the gun.

Maybe, or Rope a Dope. This may have helped rattle Willard the other night, knowing another shoe was to drop...

"I am betting at this point she wishes she had run."

I am betting at this point she wishes she had [semi-]endorsed Newt before IOWA...

As for myself I have never followed the band wagon, If I thought Huntsman was the best man I might write him in even though he has officially dropped out. Unfortunately some people would vote for Satan if they thought he would win, they want to be able to say they voted for the winner, even if the winner is their worst enemy.

I will NOT vote for Romney regardless of polls. I would stay home first.

Why do you want to cover up for a billion-dollar company who made a lot of their money by taking out loans on companies that went bankrupt and then using accounting gimmicks to avoid paying any of the money back?

That’s too complicated for people to understand but you are right to want to expose the form of capitalism that is advocated by the greedy, profit at any cost sort. There is another sort of capitalism and it is on the rise as much as it can be in the current environment. I call it “enlightened capitalism” as the practioners have become enlightened to the fact that if you treat your employees with respect and offer them opportunity in return for a job well done, they will work harder and all will prosper. That’s the way it is supposed to work and does in lots of businesses today. We don’t hear about them because they are quietly doing their business and not making headlines by ripping people off, but they are there and they will succeed if the government gets out of their way. They make it increasingly difficult for business owners to make a profit that they can share with those who make it possible. It’s a shame and it must stop if we are to survive as a free country.

That’s not capitalism; it’s theft.

I agree with you, I think Newt is my guy too. He is far from perfect, but he is a stark contrast from ObMAO. Romney, is not. I believe Newt will overturn a lot of the mess of the last three years, including Obamacare, I don't have confidence that Romney will do much - I feel like he will throw the conservatives a few bones but leave much of the big government take over intact - or at the very least not dismantle it enough to be effective. Just my gut on that.

I've said before we do not have our perfect candidate in this group - but Newt to me comes the closest, and at some point we have to come together and support the best person...or we get 4 more years of zippy and his insane ass clown posse. Newt is not afraid to call a socialist a socialist, and when the obama machine goes full tilt in the general, I think he can take them. I don't have confidence that Romney will. He just seems wimpy to me on that front. - afraid to say what needs to be said. JMHO

I have been thinking the exact same thing. Not sure it’s not just wishful thinking, though.

Once again, Palin does what’s good for Palin, just like she did by endorsing McCain and Fiorina.

If she’s so determined to stop Romney, then she should get in this race and stop saying “if I were in SC”. Ronald Reagan wouldn’t be doing all of this peacock dancing around.

Sarah was very good in that interview, and let Hannity set her up,mentioning Todd’s support, in endorsing Newt, right NOW.
She will likely be supporting him on a “primary-by-primary” basis, but at some point is bound to come out both guns blazing in support. And I always love Sarah’s diction and her way with words, which comes out sounding clumsy, totally unslick, and oh-so-endearing. But I was a sucker for Sarah from the beginning.

Glad to see I am not the only one doing double posting. Has been happening to me lately and I don’t know why.:)

I also will not vote for Romney in the primary here in FL. I notice today that Newt is gaining in the polls so this race is far from over!

This back door endorsement came just in time to keep Newt in the race, I hope.

I have no idea how that happened! Normally if I mess up and do a double post I am aware of the mistake. I am about 99 percent certain I did NOT click post twice. I am clicking post once only this time for sure.

>> “ She wants the conservative base to coalesce around a conservative that can win.” <<

.
No, that is not even close to what she said.

She doesn’t want any ‘coalescing’ now, she wants Mitt stopped so that the candidates can be examined.

Stop the steam roller for the worst candidate is what she asked.

Voting for newt in SC will help that.

Good points. You are more precise in explaining her intentions.

She definitely wants to keep the process going and if Mitt wasn't in the picture she most likely would not have made the statement.
