(CNSNews.com) -- The United States is not “overly concerned” about the Iraqi government detaining a “handful of U.S. contractors” over visas and paperwork, State Department spokesman Mark Toner told reporters on Tuesday.

Back on Jan. 11, the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad issued an “emergency warning” for U.S. citizens in Iraq, informing them “not [to] attempt movements about the country in the absence of valid, current permits and paperwork.”

On Sunday, Jan. 15, the International Stability Operations Association (ISOA), an organization that represents contractors in Iraq, sent a letter to Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton asking her to intervene regarding the Iraqi government’s detention of foreign contractors, the Financial Times reported.

That kind of behavior by the U.S. government is going to have repercussions. Next time they want contractors to perform some service in a foreign country, they may find fewer or none willing to go.

My passport expired in December. I'm loathe to renew it with this kind of behavior. Sorry boss, the passport is expired.

Hell, why would the Community Organizer in Chief care? It’s only U. S. Citizens? You have to be a Libyan Al Qaeda or Muslim Brotherhood member or the like to get his support these days.

With Obama, sympathy for U. S. Citizens doesn’t even run skin deep. It can even be wiped off without soap and water.

What? Foreigners are required to have valid IDs, Passports & Visas?

If I was to put on my liberal hat, I'd call them Iraqis racist.

If the U.S. government is not overly concerned, it’s obvious that the “handful of U.S. contractors” does not include any blacks, females, Latino’s, gays, lesbians, transexuals, convicted felons, Muslims or registered Democrats. Otherwise, Hillary, obama, Harry Reid, Schumer, Durbin and the “Soccer Mom in Knee Pads”, Patty Murray, would all be screaming and demanding their release in the next 24 hours. obama would probably send Air Force One to bring them home.

the number of foreign contractors detained by the Iraqi government in “recent weeks” is in the “low hundreds.”

Well, Obama and Clinton may not be "overly concerned," but I'm sure these hundreds of Americans and their families damned sure are.

The only advice I would give these folks is to get the hell out of that rathole. By the first available transportation.
