Jimmy Carter: Gingrich Has "That Subtlety Of Racism"
Real Clear Politics ^ | January 18, 2012 | Staff

Former President Jimmy Carter says Newt Gingrich knows exactly what he is doing when he uses phrases like "food stamp president" and talks about the poor learning a work ethic. Carter says this rhetoric is "appealing to the wrong element in South Carolina."

[snip]

"When you emphasize, over and over, welfare, food stamps, and ‘Why don’t the black people get jobs," and if I’m president, I’ll make sure they turn toward a work ethic, rather than an ethic of welfare and food stamps, that’s appealing to the wrong element in South Carolina," the former President said on CNN.

CBS makes up quotes (against Santorum) and now Carter follows suit (against Gingrich).

Jimmy Carter is an irrelevant has-been whose only joy in life is slandering other people, particularly Republicans. It's not pretty, but it got him the Nobel Prize.

Anytime someone cries “racism” you know Jimmy Carter can’t be far behind.

IMHO, Jummah, as a Georgia cracker, probably thinks it’s alright.....else he wouldn’t advocate and practice it.

Affirmative Action is the democRAT Party’s undeniable declaration of their belief that blacks are inferior in every way and always will be, that they are incapable of making their own way in life, and without any possibility of achieving anything by their own talents, efforts or abilities!

Newt Gingrich’s statements represent the “Conservative Right’s” belief that ANYONE regardless of race or background can achieve anything they put their mind to and are willing to make the effort to achieve by their own talents, efforts and abilities.

Jimmy might as well go back to building houses for the poor. This is pure demagoguery. No one who really cares about the people on food stamps will argue with Newt's point. (I am certainly not endorsing Newt, but fair is fair, and President Carter's remark is not.)

If Newt is going to be labeled a racist for pointing out the obvious then many of us are racist also.

Quite frankly, it’s about time someone starts calling out the so called black community. They are a major economic drag on this nations economic present and future.

I would make that "lagophobia" (take both roots from Greek rather than mix-and-match).

If the Democrats are dragging Jimmy Carter out to attack Newt and defend Obama you know they are really desperate.

Anyone who is willing to call a conservative a racist will immediately get an enormous amount of fawning coverage from the MSM. Look for more slime balls like Carter to start parroting the racist attack.

Racism is the Left’s version of Original Sin. White people are born guilty. If they refuse to take the sacraments of the Church of Liberalism and thus accept and atone for their guilt, they are damned.

Nah, you need to have a full bladder when you head over to visit Jimmah’s grave. The Marines need a reprise when this piece of human waste finally expires.

That settles it. I’m DEFINITELY voting for Gingrich. What an ass. Jimmah Carta just can’t keep his own racist, anti semetic mouth shut. What a black mark he was on our history. We never learn, do we?

Not only on the short list for "worst President in American history" but heading the list for "worst ex-President in American history."

Jimmy Carter's ancestors in backwoods Georgia probably included a lot more slaveowners than Newt Gingrich's Scots-Irish ancestors in Pennsylvania (he was born a McPherson). I guess that gives Carter special insight into racial matters, or at least a special license to play the race card.

I’ve wondered over the years what Carter’s funereal plan is. Each POTUS is supposed to submit a plan for his wishes upon his ultimate demise.

Would Carter DARE to have the formal/official cortege up Constitution Ave, and lying in state under the Capitol Dome? Or would he be more realistic and dignified, and have a simple ceremony at the family homestead in Plains, GA. I somehow can’t imagine folks standing in line for hours to pass by his bier.
