I finally did that in August -- got a Samsung laptop with Win7. On BlackFriday/CyberMonday, I bought a new desktop pc.
Win7 can be a pain. So far, I have lost a few old software programs that just will not run on Win7, even after trying the compatibility feature. I also lost use of my Minolta Pagepro 1250 laser printer. Win7 says it is not compatible. I tried some supposed fixes from Minolta, but they would not work either.
Win7's UAC [User Account Control] created havoc on both machines, until I turned it off completely. Also, the Win7 file explorer was a pain, but I found a 'classic shell' that made it more like the 'usable' XP file explorer.
