Gingrich Super PAC ad suggests Romney would bomb in debate with Obama (video at link)

In a new Korean-esque political ad, pro-Newt Gingrich Super PAC Winning Our Future illustrates what a debate between Mitt Romney and President Barack Obama might look like in a general election.

It’s pretty brutal in labeling Romney a flip-flopper on abortion rights, gun control and health care policy.

“I agreed with Gov. Romney on many things,” the Obama character says, “but this presidential candidate Romney, I don’t even know the guy. Then again, he doesn’t seem to know himself.”

The fake Romney responds, “Oh, come on!” before hanging his head as the audience laughs.

Stuttering Willard would lose three polling points per debate, imho.

Here’s the ad on YouTube.

I’m really happy because I think they got this idea from me. I e-mailed the below to them a week ago. I didn’t think of making the ad animated, but that was probably easier than my idea to use an Obama lookalike or voice over. Other than that the ad matches my premise pretty darn closely.

Subject: Ad idea: Obama/Romney debate

Here’s an idea for an ad you can use free of charge. Have an Obama-lookalike or offscreen voice with clips of Obama/Romney on the debate stage. Have “Obama” open the debate with these congratulations on Romney’s record as governor.

Barack Obama in the first 2012 Presidential debate:

“If I could, let me just take a moment to congratulate Governor Romney on his record in Massachusetts. He provided our nation with the first working model for universal health coverage, he protected a woman’s right to choose, he led the nation in instituting gay marriage rights, he passed an assault weapons ban, and he had the political courage to raise taxes and fees to balance his state’s budget. Unlike many Republicans, Governor Romney has shown real leadership on these issues and I have to give him credit for that.”

I'd like to see a Newt/Donahue debate. Some viewers might mistakenly think they're seeing double.

Let’s be candid here. I think Romney could have beat Obama had he run agasint him in 2008. The economy was bad at the time...maybe the Bani thing would have worked better then, maybe not...

But, Romney would beat Obama now. I think just about all of our candidates would beat Obama.

I don’t think that is the point for any of us here. We want the Senate, we want the House. We want a complete win. We also want a complete win in the ideas of conservatism.

Lastly, I don’t really want this debate to end yet either. I’d like to see Romney and Newt fighting it out, respectfully, for several more weeks if not months.

I want Newt to stay positive and just discuss the issues.

I dunno if he would bomb, but I do know this much. The achilles heal of Romney was revealed in the last debate.

He is ashamed of his wealth, and he wants to hide it. That would be relentlessly to destroy him, and it would work.

I think beating Obama will be a hard-fought victory no matter who the nominee is. I don’t we should rest on our laurels from 2010 as any kind of indication of what the outcomes of 2012 will be—the political dynamics are very different now.

I don’t believe Romney is equipped to beat Obama. He doesn’t have the record for it, nor does he have the charisma and force of personality to actually fight. He’ll flop and guarantee Obama fo’ mo’ years.

I think in 2008 Romney could’ve beaten Obama, and that would’ve been okay by me (I didn’t know much about him back then, I wasn’t paying attention to politics much at that age). Given what I know now about him, IMO Romney basically would’ve perpetuated 4 more years of GW Bush-style policies, because that’s the sort of person Romney is—a risk-averse technocrat without any big ideas, who blows with the winds of circumstance and prefers to tinker around the edges rather than pursue any bold prerogatives.

Beyond the fact that Romney’s chances of electability are nil in the socio-political climate we have now, this is exactly the kind of guy we DON’T need in office. We need bold vision and ideas to roll back the wrenching tide of socialism that’s choking off this nation.

This is the issue. Most are voting for Mitt Rino because they think he is the most likely to beat Bozo. Many of us believe he is the only one who can’t beat him, he has no fire in his belly or inspiration.

Pray for America

You can't debate someone who wont debate.
If the poll numbers are close, why would Obama even want to debate.
