He doesn’t need to ask our forgiveness. He needs to ask God for forgiveness...

Obviously. Has he said that he has?

That's all I'm trying to find out here, but no one so far has answered my question.

I've seen a lot of people say it doesn't matter, others saying we need to forgive him, but I haven't seen the evidence that he has said that he's asked God's forgiveness for his egregious sins.

If anyone can provide that information, I would appreciate it.

I’ve wondered about that also.

Rick Perry has two more years left in his term as governor.

I seriously doubt if he would run again. He would probably win again easily, but he may think he’s done it long enough.

He wants to continue serving his country. I don’t think this is the time to run for the Kaye Bailey seat, several of his friends have already announced.

He could run against John next time. John is not nearly as strong as Perry.

I think there’s a possibility he might take a high government post if Gingrich offered one and, if he felt he could do some good. He would be a fabulous energy secretary.

I would imagine that before being baptized in the Catholic Church, he would've had a great deal of counseling and advice from his Catholic pastor. This would have been in a private setting. His pastor would hopefully be able to judge whether or not his repentance is sincere.

In the Catholic sacrament of confession, one goes into a private confessional booth. There has never been a public breast-beating and garment-shredding ala the Jimmy Swaggart types.

Former House speaker and potential presidential candidate Newt Gingrich has confessed, telling conservative Christian leader James Dobson that he was cheating on his wife at around the same time the House was impeaching President Bill Clinton over his White House affair with Monica Lewinsky. But Gingrich, who just published a book called "Rediscovering God in America," tapped a religious leader for his confession and expressed repentance. "There are things in my own life that I have turned to God and have gotten on my knees and prayed about and sought God's forgiveness," he told Dobson. http://articles.cnn.com/2007-03-09/politics/gingrich.schneider_1_georgia-republican-newt-gingrich-gingrich-confession?_s=PM:POLITICS

Love Governor Perry.

As far as Fox’s spin on this having little impact on Newt, they couldn’t be more wrong.

If Newt has 28% and gets Perry’s 4 or 6 percent, that will put him in range of Romney.

And Perry has influence beyond his numerical support. Lots of people had Perry as their second choice. Those people will be influenced by Perry’s endorsement.

Newt’s not quite the man Perry is (but who is?) but he will be a great candidate and it will be fun, fun, fun!

So it would be good to see if Newt publicly acknowledges his sin and has repented of it, because humility before God is important.

There are many videos and articles, interviews where Newt's been asked about this. It really isn't hard to locate these...and read what is written or stated from Newt himself. Additionally many articles right here on FR. You can search with the FR search bar.

It went beyond the vetting process with Perry. The threads were full of insults and personal attacks. I’ve been off and on FR for a long time and have never seen anything so viscious as the Perry attacks.

Gingich also sought and received from the Catholic Church annulments from his previous marriages so he could be married in the RCC. He has also signed a fidelity pledge.

It’s hard to understand why people are still making issue of this as if it’s new news. When I was looking at Newt I found countless articles about this issue and Newt’s repentance with it.

I don’t think it’s appropriate for any to expect Newt to fall on his knees before the public at this time...so long after the fact. They need to remember that Newt is accountable to God and his family, he has taken care of what matters. The public needs to determine if they think themsleves above Newt or not. For “all have sinned and fallen short of the High calling of God in Christ Jesus”......there are no exceptions.

I typed into my search engine “Has Newt Gingrich repented of adultery?” and there were links that I started to look at, including a Catholic site saying that Newt’s repentance isn’t necessarily enough, another site talking about him publicly repenting, and another talking about his pledge to not commit adultery. Another one mentioned that to become Catholic he would have had to not only repent but also “atone” for his sin. (I hope that means to show his repentance is true rather than actually to atone for sin, because only Jesus can atone for sin.)

My computer sometimes decides which websites I can visit and it’s acting up now so I wasn’t able to look at all the links, but based on what I have seen it seems like he probably has publicly repented of the sin of adultery. I was hoping to find a link which actually quoted him and I was

Ah, the page finally let me scroll down. “You know the bomb thrower has serious traction over the management consultant when evangelicals overlook Gingrich’s multiple marriages punctuated by serial adultery. At the debate, Gingrich publicly repented, saying “I’ve made mistakes at times. I’ve had to go to God for forgiveness. I’ve had to seek reconciliation.” He then implied that he was too old to be the randy deceiver of yore. “But I’m also a 68-year-old grandfather,” he said. “I think people have to measure who I am now and whether I’m a person they can trust.”

Anyway, take it for what it’s worth. lol. I’m sure there are better sources of info but the consensus seems to be that Gingrich has acknowledged his sin and repented.

God bless Perry. His work is just beginning. He ran with dignity and left with dignity. My prayer is that Newt wins and Perry gets a big position that will impact the conservative cause in this country. “I believe Newt is a Conservative visionary who can transform our country. We’ve had our differences which campaigns will inevitably have, and Newt is not perfect, but who among us is? The fact is, there is forgiveness for those who seek God. And I believe in the power of redemption for it is a central tenant of my Christian faith. I have no question that Newt Gingrich has the heart of a Conservative reformer, the ability to rally and captivate the Conservative movement. The courage to tell those Washington interests to take a hike if that is in the best interest of our country. - Governor Rick Perry

Thank you, Ohio. And you are a classy woman.

I understand your problems with Newt but I do think he’s learned a lot. His statement this morning on the ex-wife’s tasteless interview was totally classy. He refused to say one negative word about her.

I’m for Newt now all the way, but I prayed this morning that it would be the good Newt and not the bad Newt. I think it will or I would not support him.

And just think how much fun it will be to watch him debate Obama. Obama is the real embodiment of evil.

What do people want from the man? My gosh are they so self-righteous they cannot see the man has come clean before God.....it really gets annoying that someone’s sin is still “fished” for by some when God has placed that sin in the deepest sea and posted a sign...”No Fishing”.

“I’ve been off and on FR for a long time and have never seen anything so viscious as the Perry attacks”

I admit to sour grapes upfront. I haven’t seen anything so vicious either. At first I thought it was just kind of strange but then you figured out who was doing it. They were majority vitriolic Cain supporters who haven’t been here very long. Since getting Perry out of the race was the prime objective of Herman Cain with all his warts, we shouldn’t have been surprised his followers would do the dirty work. They came aboard each day and attacked Governor Perry non-stop. Calling out two in particular: napscoordinator and CainConservative who were unrelenting. You couldn’t even have a conversation with them. They appeared unintelligent. If Perry wasn’t even in the news cycle for the day, they brought him in with their ugly criticism. I know for a fact they didn’t even register on the Governor’s considerations, but it made it uncomfortable here.

Welcome home, Governor.

I know. It began with the crazy mean Palin worship crowd (not all Palin supporters, by far) and they moved to Cain and then melted down with him after Palin abandoned ship.

Their main target was Perry and his supporters. They have two gears - abolute love and adoration and absolute hate and animosity. It’s not really that many people but they were very loud and active attacking the supporters of Perry or anyone not adoring Cain and totally debasing everything about Perry. They could not handle the vetting process because analyzing was not real big in the mob. They seem to have slinked away since Cain got canned. No more adoration to feed them, I guess.

I supported Newt and Perry and I hope Newt adopts Perry’s platform ideas because it contians excellent reform ideas that goes to the heart of many of America’s problems. Newt, although far from perfect, is better for the conservative cause than is Romney.
