Did Mitt Romney Lie About Father Marching With MLK?
News One for Black America ^ | Jan. 18, 2012 | Casey Gane-McCalla

Posted on 01/19/2012 10:15:47 AM PST by Colofornian

In December 2007, Mitt Romney was asked by “Meet The Press” host Tim Russert about the history of racism in the Mormon church, which excluded African Americans from participation until 1978. Romney claimed that his father marched with Martin Luther King. Romney would also claim that he “saw his father march with Martin Luther King” in a speech about his Mormon faith earlier that month. In 1978, Mitt Romney would tell the Boston Globe that he and his father both marched with Martin Luther King.

The problem is, Mitt Romney’s father, George Romney, the former governor of Michigan, never marched with Martin Luther King. Mitt Romney would concede that fact to the Boston Globe in 2007. The Boston Phoenix could find no record of Mitt’s father, George marching with Martin Luther King at all.

Still Politfact reports that while George Romney never marched with Martin Luther King, he was supportive of King’s goals and of the Civil Rights movement,

But it’s also clear that George Romney, who served as governor from 1963 to 1969 and died in 1995, supported King’s goals at a time when few politicians did. When King visited Detroit and led a rally of 125,000 people in 1963, Romney issued a proclamation and sent personal representatives. (The Times report noted that Romney was Mormon and did not make public appearances on Sundays.) Two years later, Romney led a march of 10,000 people in Detroit to protest events in Selma, Ala. (King wasn’t there.) When King died in 1968, George Romney attended the funeral.

George Romney’s support of the civil rights movement put him at odds with the Mormon Church, whose Apostle, Delpert Stabley wrote him a letter criticizing him for helping “the negro cause” which went against the Prophet, Joseph Smith and God, who had cursed the Negro. So while Mitt Romney’s father was not a racist, Mitt Romney’s “prophet” Joseph Smith, who believed that the Black people were cursed, was.

More myths from The Mythster Romney.

And the following will be the daily diet of the MSM if the Mythster is nominated...get used to it...GOP...you will be linked with the following...because of your support of the Mythster:

I don’t read genocidal racist press. And I seriously wonder about those who do.

It would only be news if Romney was actually telling the truth.

Marching with MLK has become as big a lie for the 60’s generation as saying you were at Woodstock. If as many people had actually attended as say they attended the line would have stretched all the way to the Hoover dam.

He may have.
However, marching with MLK is just like the people who say they were at Woodstock.
If all the people who said they marched or had family that marched with MLK and those that said they were at Woodstock would be in the muti millions in both places.
On this I take Romney’s statement with a grain of salt.

Considering the fact that they were members of a church who openly denied blacks salvation, I’m guessing yeah he lied - just like he always does.

Boy are you out of bounds with this posting!!

For your information, Lying for the Lord is a commanded practice for Bishop Romney's faith. And didn't the religious leader hone his technique daily for two years in France while others less connected slogged through rice paddies in Vietnam? And what's wrong with supporting gentiles suffering from the Mark of Cain for their transgressions in the pre-existence?

So there!

Since you cannot believe a word the man says, this, too, must be a lie. Malibu Ken has no conscience! I’ve watched him voice his bald faced lies with his Stepford face in every debate so far. Mitt is literally unbelievable!

Considering the fact that they were members of a church who openly denied blacks salvation, I’m guessing yeah he lied - just like he always does.

The Mormon church still has the "scripture" J. Smith made up as part of their "Doctrine"...found in Doctrine & Covenants 134:12:

'Twas mid-1835. Smith is churning out new “Scripture.” Smith is taking aim at new converts. But in that time, did he believe the Mormon “gospel” to be aimed at slaves? (No, not unless express “permission” was granted by their “owners”).

Can you imagine the Mormon church claiming that the Mormon "gospel" is for women who are sexually trafficked--but only if their Pimp-owner says "Yes?"

I mean, imagine if you will, for a moment, that you are the God of the universe; God of every planet; God of the earth; Creator of every person. Imagine for a moment you are speaking forth universal eternal truth. And then imagine that someone claims you (as God) made the following “Scriptural” statement:

”We believe it just to preach the gospel to the nations of the earth, and warn the righteous to save themselves from the corruption of the world; but we do not believe it right to interfere with bond-servants, neither preach the gospel to, nor baptize them contrary to the will and wish of their masters, nor to meddle with or influence them in the least to cause them to be dissatisfied with their situations in this life, thereby jeopardizing the lives of men; such interference we believe to be unlawful and unjust, and dangerous to the peace of every government allowing human beings to be held in servitude.”

D&C 134:12 is LDS “Doctrine” that has never been removed or rescinded!!! This passages makes it quite clear – in contrast to the apostle Paul who vied for the religious freedom of Onesimus while treating him as a full Christian brother and encouraged Philemon to do the same--somehow, LDS think that "religious freedom" applies to everyone except slaves!

D&C 134:12, written in 1835 pro-slavery America, made it quite clear that instead of the Mormons having a universal god who issued eternal truth applicable to all cultures, he is instead an American-sounding god who speaks only in King James English & was beholden to the American slavery industry.

D&C 134:12 "settles" the issue for the Mormon: Are slaves & trafficking victims worthy of the "gospel?" LDS Answer? Nope! "neither preach the gospel to, nor baptize them..." says LDS "Scripture.

And why not? Well, says D&C 134:12: We don't want ya ta meddle with the Mastuhs' business “property,” or to say it as precisely as LDS "scripture" says it: nor to meddle with or influence them in the least to cause them to be dissatisfied with their situations in this life...

(Nah. We can't have unhappy slaves or trafficking victims now, can we? Too disturbing to their "stations" of life, eh?)

Now what are the ultimate reasons for this again? D&C 134:12 provides the answer:

Reason #1: ...such interference we believe to be unlawful and unjust... (There ya have it...wouldn't want to be "unjust" by giving slaves the gospel & baptizing them, would ya?)

Reason #2: ...and dangerous to the peace of every government allowing human beings to be held in servitude. (And, of course, the "closer": Wouldn't want to disturb the peace & quiet of slavery-sanctioning governments, now would ya?)

“Jessie Jackson lied about being with him when he was killed.”

But JJ had MLKs blood on his hands, face, jacket and slacks to prove it.

What means do they use when doing their missionary (recruiting)work abroad? I am ceretain they do not reveal that Mormonism is a secret society made up in l8th century by a man with a little knowledge of freemasonry, Hinduism, Islam and justa smidgeon from the Holy Bible in oarder to claim Christianity.
