I’m no Newt defender (yet) but the “leaving the wife after her MS diagnosis” story is a gross over-simplification. You have bought into the MSM version of the story and need to read his daughter’s account of the event. As to the “open marriage” question he’s roundly denied it so it’s his word against hers and we can’t know who did what.
I do tend to think, however, that Mister Gingrich has such an extensive trail of examples of poor judgement, that he is "damaged goods" insofar as a potential standard bearer of the GOP.
The ex wife's accusations may be false, but the Dems will have no compunction about using them to influence voters who look no farther than 30 second political smash mouths from which to derive their voting decisions. I wish this were not the case.
Then there are conservatives, just like moi, who will not get over the Pelosi-love-seat-global-warmist lecture, and doubt that we can trust this (is there a nice word for "weasel"?).
Please understand, if Newt wins the GOP nomination, I'm in his corner with all my energy, and some of my $.
I do believe, however, that the man will be a tough sell to politically pliant "moderates" and indies.
