imho, though, Newt pulled up short. He could have easily gone ahead with a few more slappings along the “protect obama” thread - he could have said something like, “... you stoop to this level of attack against Republicans and you cite your self-proclaimed status as the Fourth Estate, claiming the People have a right to know, yet you have turned a deaf ear to Obama’s ... “ and then you can slip in a coupla three or four items in there.
Imagine the impact if - on National TV - a Republican is seen not as being meek, but striking back at the biased MSM and mentioning such things as obla-blah’s gunwalker, or saying the word “FASCISM” and GOVERNMENT MOTORS in the same sentence, associated with each other. Hell, he could even have asked how these guys could ride the Bush college transcripts but haven’t pressed the chosenWun’s hiding of his own transcripts.
The impact, of course, is that it would be on national TV, and not massaged/controlled by the same media, and a Republican would have been seen to be taking this commie media hack out the woodshack for a really good spanking.
It would have Newt’s “...it’s the People’s Seat...” moment (Scott Brown). I honestly think, if he would done something like that, He would have locked in all the Conservatives
It was pretty darn good, but I wish he would have gone further along this line.

It’s obvious that Newt is the only one with the ability and inclination to confront the Obama machine as mercilessly as we know they’re going to attack the GOP candidate. Romney would smarm and cajole them to death. Santorum (whom I like best) would bore them to death. Paul — never mind him. Newt would not only respond strongly to attacks, I pray that he would initiate a few attacks of his own. Put those sleazbags on the defense for a change.
