Senate Majority Leader Harry M. Reid (D-Nev.) announced Friday he would delay consideration of measure to combat online piracy, bowing to pressure from a coalition of Internet companies, including Google and Wikipedia, that rallied consumers to their side by saying the legislation could lead to the censorship of popular sites.
In a statement, Reid said he would delay the vote scheduled for Tuesday to begin consideration until the Senate Judiciary Committee could make more progress. We made good progress through the discussions weve held in recent days, and I am optimistic that we can reach a compromise in the coming weeks, Reid said.

We all need to contact our Senators and let them know that we do NOT want SOPA/PIPA.
That explains why I only seem to watch movies made 20+ years ago...
Maybe The Dingy One can delay the vote long enough for Rick Santorum to go win back his old Senate seat and vote for it.
In other words we will take some time to let things cool down and then pass the bill when everyone wants to go home like usual. Or attach it to another bill that no one will want to vote against like a Tax Extension.....
Yes he’s delaying it because he knows it will be political suicide for the Rat party. Please please please Dim-o-rats keep showing those college kids who are addicted to filesharing like Michael Jackson to cub scouts what you are all about..yeah Rock the vote kids!
NO compromise! NO surrender! NO PIPA, NO SOPA, NO Research Works Act!!!!!
How typical that that vile Serbophobe and bankster tool Dodd is pushing these things!!!!
Find out about and write your Congress-critters about the less publicized Research Works Act, too. Don’t let the smarmy little dictators restrict our Internet information!!!!
Senate Kabuki translation:
“My Dem and RINO Senators have gotten big bucks from Hollywood for writing this.
Now we’ll get big bucks from the internet giants to amend it- and more big bucks from Hollywood not to amend it too much...”
I then put them into envelopes, which I also hand-addressed, and took them to the post office.
I believe that taking the time to do this makes your point more forcefully than does an e-mail, or FAX.
As for phone calls, I don't know. Personally, I'm not sure I can keep my cool when dealing with some snarky assistant's assistant phone bank answerer for either of my two left-wing senators.
Thank you honorable Chairman Mao Tze Reid!
This is an obvious attempt by the dinosaur media companies to save themselves from the future of media distribution. Instead of coming up with new media para dines the are like the buggy whip companies lobbing congress to protect there failed business model.
They should be ignored.
