Sweater vests ended with Perry Como and Andy Williams Christmas specials. Stop giving the media a cudgel to bash us with.

Sorry, I don't see wardrobe choices as a good reason not to prefer the solid candidate over the one that is so sharp that he tends to cut himself on a regular basis.

Newt thinks he is the smartest guy in the room so he can't be rolled. That attitude has gotten him in trouble in the past. Perhaps he has learned humility and my doubts are groundless. But then perhaps not.

Tell that to my wife... I have a closet full of them and wore them long before Santorum ran for president. They work well during seasons when it's too cold not to wear some kind of sweater but not yet cold enough for a winter coat or heavy sweater.

But then again, I live in the Missouri Ozarks where some people wonder why I wear a tie. My usual answer is I'd look silly if I tried to drive around in a pickup truck wearing jeans and farm boots. I'm not a farmer and trying to look like one would be stupid.

If the worst thing people can say about a politician is they don't like his sweaters, I think he's doing pretty well.
