Kathleen Parker: Newt Gingrich and the forgiveness ploy
Washington Post ^ | 01/21/2012 | Kathleen Parker

Posted on 01/21/2012 2:09:49 PM PST by SeekAndFind

Newt Gingrich’s standing ovation Thursday night, when he attacked CNN moderator John King for asking about allegations that Gingrich wanted an “open marriage” with his second wife, told us little about South Carolina but much about human nature.

The query, for which King has been exhaustively critiqued, was both necessary and inevitable. Forget the elephant in the living room; it was the herd in the powder room.

SNIP

In a nutshell: The more you pick on a person for human failings with which all can identify, the more likely you will create sympathy rather than antipathy, especially if that individual has been forthright in his confession and penitent for his transgression, as Gingrich has been. He was ahead of the curveball this time, with nothing left to tell or for his aggrieved former wife to expose.

SNIP

To err is human; to forgive divine. We like that way of thinking because we all need others’ forgiveness. When Gingrich turned to his audience and said that we all know pain — we all know people who have suffered pain — he instantly morphed from sinner to savior, the redeemer in chief. He correctly counted on the empathy of his fellow man, if not necessarily womankind, and won the moment.

But a moment is just that, and projection of the sort experienced by the Charleston, S.C., audience can be fraught with peril. Over-identification clouds judgment, and, though we are all sinners, we are not all running for president of the United States. Gingrich’s sins of the flesh ultimately are of less importance than the narcissism and grandiosity that compel his actions.

Voters would do well to think less of what they would do in his shoes than what Gingrich will do, should he win the prize.

Score more stupidity for this brainless subversive ditz who pretends to be a Republican. What she and most others are ignoring is the clear attempt by ABC to sabotage Newt's Presidential campaign. It wasn't the facts surrounding his divorce that Newt attacked, it was the intentional, underhanded timing intended to damage him in the S.C. primary vote, leaving him no chance for a fair rebuttal.

He was absolutely justified in responding the way he did, especially since the slander was contained in the debate's very first question and was no doubt intended to become the debate's theme. Go Newt!

This shrew needs to shrivel up and blow away.

On second thought she’s already shriveled up.

She should just blow away.

Noonan puts her comments into a historical perspective. She misunderstands history but at least she is aware of it.

Parker must go to dinner parties in DC and NYC, write down what people she thinks are smart say, and she parrots that.
But she seems to not get the jokes and the irony goes right over her head.

Parker is a self-professed Republican who hates Republicans- rather like a lesbian who hates lesbians. Why be a lesbian then?!

Basically, this putosa dismisses the entire concept of Christian redemption.

Liberals should be especially concerned when we, as a people, decide that people are in no way salvageable as Christians and human beings under any circumstances.

Who was the married man the ex dated before she dated Newt? Why did that previous relationship break up? Who broke it up? Him or her? Why? Was it because he refused to leave his wife for her? What is her political registration? Who were and are her close friends? Are they mostly extreme Democrats or should I say Democrat extremists? And what were her intentions from day one when she met Newt? I have more questions about her, her intentions and her credibility then I do about Newt and his ability to lead this country. Perhaps he hasn’t been at his best as a husband, but I think if elected and given a fair chance as President he would do a much job, then the current occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

“Gingrich is a warrior.”

Both a warrior and a narcissist command attention. Yet it is the motives of each that greatly differ. A warrior loves his country and will fight for it, the attention he commands is his battle armor. A warrior will tell people when he thinks they are wrong and when necessary admit his own failures. While a narcissist commands attention that reflects his best image of himself. He doesn’t necessarily love his country or anyone else, but he loves himself. A narcissist also believes anyone who doesn’t think he is the most superior of persons is not only wrong, but has something extremely wrong with them.

Kathleen is bait who swims with liberal sharks.

What’s her IQ? I’d guess that mice can figure out a maze to the cheese twice as quick as this 30 IQ moron.

She needs to wear a necklace that says,”I’m more stupid than you and I can prove it.”
