Down goes Juan Williams. Down goes John King. Down goes the media elites. And, down goes the Dick Morris who told us Rick Santorum won the debate on Thursday night.
Hear the roar. Edmund Wright at The American Thinker describes the failure of the liberal media and Republican elites to understand the passion, the intensity and frustration of the Great Unwashed after three years of Barack Obama and a corrupt Obama-coddling media.
After Thursdays debate was over in Charleston, I assumed that Newt had not only survived the Marianne episode, but had benefitted from it. I also figured he would win S.C. and that Santorum would fade as a challenger to him. Everyone I knew who saw the debate reached this same conclusion.
Yet as incredible as it may seem, all day Friday we were treated to multiple reviews from members of the conservative media on how Rick Santorum won the Thursday night debate in Charleston and that how this would help him in South Carolina. Dick Morris flatly proclaimed that Santorum did so well he might sweep in and take second from Newt Gingrich. Morris also predicted this would mean a S.C. win and nomination for Mitt Romney.
Charles Krauthammer, meanwhile, admitted that Newt won it in the first three minutes but that Santorum had a very strong night after that.
And Im thinking: what debate did these folks watch? Do they not pay attention to the crowd reaction? Do they not know what it indicates? Admittedly, Santorum got off some attacks that might have seemed like good hits, but they fell flat in the hall. Newt dominated crowd reaction, Mitt was a pretty clear second in that regard and of course Ron Pauls crowd was the few, the proud, the lo

Just thinking the same thing...;)
The media and elites are trying to “steer” the masses to the ones MSM/Marxists/Atheists/Hedonists want anointed. They are trying to eliminate our real choices....and they will continue to—for there are quite a few useless idiots who don’t know what to think unless MSM tells them.

Dick Morris is a dork. (And, the dude is butt-wipe ugly.)
Watch for the MSM to try to keep pumping Santorum.
You will never see a conservative with so much soft treatment.
Wont work, but it will be funny to watch.
Anyone got the Javascript of Nelson doing the a-ha from Simpsons?
I sense an uplifting feeling today among conservatives and independents.
Until now, it seemed our fate was going to be a race between Obama and Obama-Lite Romney.
Yesterday, South Carolina said no way Jose to that plan by the RINO establishment.
Now we need to get Florida on fire for Newt or Santorum. It does not matter at this point who gets the vote so long as Romney comes in last!!!!
I actually agree with Krauthammer that Santorum, after the opening question, put in the best debate performance. I’ve been off and on impressed with his performances. He can be wildly inconsistent. On Thursday Santorum seemed steady, articulate, and delivered well-directed attacks, but on Monday he seemed unfocused and out of his league. But I knew Monday’s performance was so good for Newt that the momentum was set into motion on that day and was not about to be stopped. Plus Newt ran ads showcasing his answers from the Monday debate.
I think Santorum is a really fine candidate and still think he’s a great V.P. pick for shoring up social conservatives who may question Newt’s personal life and for boosting Newt in crucial industrial swing states like Pennsylvania and Ohio, Santorum’s home territory.
He’s an opportunist who tries to sensationalize but has no core commitments to anything remotely Conservative.
His whole schtick is to fit in “and if you go to Dickmorris.com” ...
pinging C. Edmund Wright to thread/article about your American Thinker article.
It's too big to ignore now. That which is too big to be marginalized can still be demonized, and that is precisely what we will see from the MSM in the coming days, the more so for every primary that Gingrich wins. He and the Tea Parties are now "mean" according to the meme of the moment, and don't tell me that chorus wasn't coordinated. And frankly I don't care. In the end all it will be is an attempt to re-frame defeat.
Voted today for Newt in Florida’s early voting. Surprised they are open on Sunday, but they are.
Good idea.
I don’t know why some people are even bothering to listen to Dick Morris, he is a Dem, he worked for Bill Clinton..he is still in bed with the Democrats..even if he now considers himself a Republican he is still a lefty who is rooting for Romney because Conservatives can’t stand him
Everyone's hearing "the roar"!
This offering is ON THE MONEY....great piece.
of course they paid no attention to the crowd reaction. Do you expect those washinton folks to notice a bunch of redneck hicks from South Cackalakki? Only Charles Krauthammer cought the crowd and how they loved Newt. Remember the “great conservative Republican unwashed” want a fighter, someone who will take the battle to Obimbi, and they see Newt as that person.
