Newt Gingrich Wants Freddie Mac Records Released Before Florida Primary (Take That Willard!)
ABC News ^ | January 23, 2012 | George Stephanopoulos

Posted on 01/23/2012 8:12:37 AM PST by C19fan

In response to lobbying accusations from his opponents Newt Gingrich told me it would be "very helpful" if his former company, Center for Health Transformation, released the consulting contract he had with mortgage giant Freddie Mac before the Florida primary on January 31. "I think it would be very helpful and our attorneys are talking with the company. You know I left the company so, it's their decision and Nancy Desmond, the president of the company, has to make the decision. But I'd be very comfortable releasing them," he said.

It’s true - this is no longer a contest. Newt can see what is going on from a historical point of view - ideology is dead.

He’s not the first to realize it either. Jerry Brown did an outstanding job running Oakland before he’d decided he’d had enough. Now its a sewer again.

The next two decades is going to be about fixing it. Nobody cares what is conservative or liberal anymore - the only thing that counts is whether our hippie grandpas are going to get their medicare, and it is going to trump environmentalism, the labor movement, hell, even capitalism.

Wall Street has done a bang up job wrecking good companies over the years for nothing more than raiding their overfunded pension funds. That’s not capitalism, its the exploitation of accounting rules, which are largely set by government policy.

The entire Enron mess was touched off by ‘the mark to market rule’. The nationalization of the banks was caused by the repeal of Glass-Steagal.

Ideology, on both sides of the aisle, is killing us, because no matter what the ideology seems to be in the last 30 years, it always results in more control by government at every level (municipal, county, state, and federal).

I’m beginning to think we need to move to a parliamentary system at this point. Even the Founders conceded that the system they came up with would only govern a ‘moral’ people.

That’s not us anymore.

Oh, and the Iranians are closing the Strait of Hormuz today.

Time to get a chess player in the chair as soon as possible. Everyone else in the race seems to be middling checker players.

So how do we deal with the fact that Newt wants amnesty for illegals?

How do we deal with the fact that Newt supports the government forcing individuals to buy health insurance?

Will he force the illegals to buy health insurance?

How do we get him turned around on these issues?

Your concern is noted, along with the polls showing massive Gingrich support. Enjoy.

Sometimes I'll get contrary in the face of hubris, just for spite.

You have to look at the mandate and the illegals issue as part of larger issues.

Why is HC so freaking expensive? Because the Tort bar is killing it. $120K/year for malpractice insurance for OBGYN’s in WA State before they can pick up a scalpel.

Can he run attacking the Tort bar at this point? Probably not.

Illegals - the only people against amnesty and illegal immigration are the middle class, who doesn’t have a representative at this point.

Business wants them because the cost is passed on to the consumer. Liberals want them because they are easy to manipulate. Nobody wins.

Amnesty isn’t the answer, but neither is shipping them back in giant trains either. We can’t have amnesty, and leaving a bunch of anchor babies behind as orphans won’t get any conservative elected either.

As such, you have to ensure that ‘right to work’ is the law of the land. How do you do that? Attack union shop states on constitutional grounds. You’re being forced to join an organization you don’t necessarily agree with just so that you can work. Once you kill the unions, the illegals issue is something you can clean up at the same time.

Tort and illegal immigration are linked issues. The cost of doing business in the US is the highest it has ever been. Government is the reason it is so high.

As such, I think his mind is right on these issues, in that he can’t be lured into the trap of looking at either of these issues as things that you can deal with separately.

This is the problem the left has with environmentalism - they thing that you can look at the environment without regard to whether the economy, civil liberty, or even proper science is going to be impacted.

It’s jumped the shark, as has homosexuals as a political force. The box is now open and the damage they have done to the moral and social fabric is starting to take its toll.

Again, its about fixing it all, and they aren’t separate problems.

Newt’s doing more to get me to want to vote for him than you are right now. I’d let him do it, and quit trying to help.
