One of Newt’s problems has always been ego. His shtick in these debates is using rhetoric which he thinks will incite the audience, thereby making him look more “electable” and conservative.
He’s not a true conservative, never was. And his “media bias” attacks are already wearing thin. Playing to a republican base is a hell of a lot different than playing to the rest of the country. He can’t make it through that successfully. Which is why he’ll lose in the general.
His shtick as you call it is populism in purest form.
Gingrich is no Ronald Reagan, but Reagan was every bit a populist as he was a conservative.
There has not been any Republican since Reagan who has tried to tap into populism.
Those guys with the same first and last names did not have an ounce of populism running in their blood.
Bob Dole's idea of a good time was social chit chat with the likes a Kathryn Graham, Dwayne Andreas and Mikhail Gorbachev.
McCain was anything but a populist which goes without saying for anyone who spent time in the Senate.
If Newt gets the nomination, he will win the general with all his baggage and all his flaws because this nation is angry and ANY populist will defeat the biggest elitist to hold the POTUS in my life time.
If ego was Newt’s problem he would hav not said as he did after the S.C win....it was all about the people.
It’s a Primary and people have the right to cheer on their candidate. Just as in any race where candidates are running. This was plain and simple a tactic to protect the moderator, who loves Obama, so he would not have to be in the position where Newt might critique him and get auduance approval.
The media is trying very hard to “silence” our candidates and take them out....most recognize the media is opposed to our candidates....the audiance is “ours” let them be “free” to express themsleves over and above the media’s desire to silence them. It’s “Our” Primary...not Obamas.
BS...it's red meat for social conservatives and this is the primary season
