On January 17, 2012, recall committees submitted recall signatures for Gov. Scott Walker, Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch, Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald, Sen. Pam Galloway, Sen. Terry Molten, and Sen. Van Wanggaard to Wisconsins Government Accountability Board (GAB). Right away, the GAB began scanning recall petitions at a secret location. The GAB even set up a live web-cam where anyone can view the staff at work scanning and reviewing the recall signatures.
There have been many concerns that thousands of fraudulent signatures would be counted in the recalls. During the 60 day circulation period, there were many reports of apparent recall fraud, including one man telling WISN that he had signed over 80 times. Kevin Kennedy, the Director of the GAB, has said if a person is signing this with the intent of artificially inflating the number of signatures turning in then they are committing a fraud on the process.
The recall committees claimed that they were working to weed out duplicate signatures before submitting their signatures to the GAB. However, the fact that they did not have an exact number of signatures they reported for the recalls seems to indicate looking for inaccuracies was not a priority for them.

I would have a rule that says that if more than X% of signatures in batch on a petition are bad, the whole batch is bad. It would be like having one bad apple spoiling a whole barrel.
Why am I not surprised /s
On the pother hand depending on how many falsified signatures there are opens the way for the politicians favorite activity. Making Laws with monetary penalties.
I would make it a very simple formula too just to assist them. For every falsified or inaccurate petition submitted $1.00 dollar would be paid to the Secretary of State to pay for their time being wasted on fraudulent petitions.

One dollar is trivial. Make it at least $100. Even better, if there are multiple fraudulent signatures on a page, double the fine for each additional fraudulent signature.
Realistically, they are not going to invalidate 460,000 signatures.
Leftists rely on their own audacity and on the inherent decency of their opponents.
They pull an “in your face” rules violation,
and dare their opposition to call them on it.
Then, like alcoholics, they cry out that those that call them on their violations are being contentious.
I think it’s more complicated. Here in DC, and I imagine both places, a party/candidate will get petitions and get them distributed to his people.
If you are one of the people, you take one to get 25 signatures. You get friends, people you know, and it’s OK.
Then, you might go stand in front of the supermarket and ask if someone is a registered voter/republican/democrat in such and such district. If yes, you ask if they’d like to sign a petition to get so-and-so on the ballot, etc. It usually works well enough. But during an election, people may see several petitions and forget which they’ve signed before. So you will get some honest duplicates.
When you send it in, you sign/certify that they are all good, etc. As long as it’s done in good faith, there shouldn’t be a problem. But half duplicates and fakes should be a felony for the submitter. The laws are already there. They just have to be used.
Yes... and MICKEY MOUSE and Donald Duck signed it...so those should be voided.

Probably not but if WE find that 300,000 were fraudulent that will take a lot of steam out of the “ONE MILLION SIGNATURES” meme. I think it will also shock a lot of independents that the ‘noble’ petition gatherers were in fact slugs and whackos.
I’m probably going to be giving 20-30 hours to the verification. Its looking like a sophisticated effort, may blow the union thugs away.
Lol
No I’m a. Disney hater.
