It appears that, bushy haired Chris Rock doesn’t like Newt Gingrich; or at least being asked questions about him.
Maybe it was the fact that it was 4AM? As part of the Sundance festivities Rock was at a late night event at Tao when he was unexpectedly hit with a bunch of political questions. The New York Post reports,
“A guy walked up to Chris and his entourage and said, ‘Hey, could I get a photo of you with my girlfriend?
When rock turned around there was a video camera in his face, and someone asking him about Newt Gingrich. The Post reports then that,
“Chris pushed the interviewer and grabbed the camera. He smashed it so hard, it broke into pieces. He cursed the guy for filming when he had asked them to stop.”

I look at it this way—I’m a Newt supporter, but if you stick bright lights and a camera in MY face at 4 am, I’ll be smashing it too. Some of the “stalker-atzis” just don’t know when to give it a rest.
Why can’t they just simply say, ‘Republicans and Democrats both see my movies, why would I want to tick them off by saying what I think?’

Let me guess - the same Chris Rock who has made a career out making low brows laugh at sophomoric potty-mouth jokes? He is so 1990’s. I would rather watch the Three Stooges than to have to suffer through his version of humor.

The headline is misleading. It seems like Rock was ambushed. Someone asked him to take a picture with his girlfriend and when Rock turned around, there was a camera and someone was asking him political questions. Him snapping may have been more about the ambush than Gingrich.
I doubt he would have had the same reaction if he was asked about Mitt Romney.

He probably thought it was just another of the paparazzi scum, and reacted “appropriately”.
