Abortion Has Claimed the Lives of 17 Percent of Americans
Life News ^ | 1/24/12 | Allan Sears

It’s the time of year when thoughts turn more concertedly to the ongoing tragedy – and travesty – of abortion.

Activists count back to the January 1973 decision in Roe v. Wade and produce new calculations on how many lives have been ended prematurely through the deliberate choice of their mothers—and with the often enthusiastic cooperation of medical professionals who have found their own ways of reconciling the destruction of life with their Hippocratic oath. (The latest addition tells us that a number roughly equivalent to the population of California, Oregon, Washington, Nevada, and Arizona has been subtracted from the human race.)

Partisans of “a woman’s right to choose” rejoice, taking shelter in the assertion that the decision to abort a child is a personal one, between a mother and … well, really, no one. A father’s rights are no longer any more sacred than the life in the mother’s womb, parents are often legally required to stand aside, and doctors these days are on hand less to offer medical counsel than to facilitate the mechanics or chemistry of destruction.

On that score: chemistry is rapidly trumping mechanics, as the efficiency of the abortionists grows. Planned Parenthood is making new fortunes in blood money through the increasingly widespread use of “tele-med” abortions, which negate the presence or participation of medical staff. An expectant mother simply steps into a room, confirms to a doctor via a video chat her determination to abort, follows his directions to press a specific button, and – voila! – a drawer pops open with two pills inside. “Take one now and one tomorrow,” the doctor says. No muss, no fuss … no baby.

Such simplicities make it easier for the body count to accumulate, and there, too, the abortionists are at an advantage, for as Joseph Stalin reminded us, “One death is a tragedy; a million deaths is a statistic.” The more babies that die, the less unbearable the death of one more … a hundred more … a thousand more becomes. Abortionists know better than most that nothing succeeds like excess.

Stalin, though, had nothing on Shannon Dea, co-president of Planned Parenthood’s Waterloo Region, in Canada, who recently declared that “Medical science is irrelevant to the question of when a fetus becomes a human being – that matter is a legal and philosophical one, not a medical one.” But what, exactly, is to be gained by wading into debate with those who deem undeniable truth – and even facts – irrelevant?

Nothing, likely. But for the general benefit, let us consider one particular philosophical implication of all those lives, quenched in the womb. The roughly 53 million children aborted since 1973 equals about 17 percent of America’s current 312 million-plus population. Nearly one-fifth of us, simply taken out of the equation … the equation being our culture, our communities, our daily interactions, our myriad accomplishments as a people.

How would any of us begin to estimate the cost of losing not just the lives, but the extraordinary impact of one-fifth of our nation’s people? What diseases have gone untreated because the mind that could have isolated the necessary bacteria or virus never lived to see a laboratory?

Across those two lost generations, what outstanding leaders of business or industry, what eloquent voices of religion or politics, have been forfeited to a mother’s choice? What paradigm-shifting ideas and insights … what soul-stirring art and music and language … what heroic explorations and athletic accomplishments have never transpired because the unique imaginations and wills and endurances that would have achieved them were vacuumed from a woman’s womb?

How many of those aborted had within them the one-of-a-kind vision that might have accomplished peace … rolled back poverty … broken down racism … staved off tyrants and terrorists … translated, transformed, transcended some aspect of our civilization in a way no one ever had before?

A mind like Einstein’s … the eloquence of Martin Luther King, Jr. … the wisdom of Washington … the physical grace of Baryshnikov … these come along maybe once or twice in a generation. In our arrogance and near-sightedness, did we forfeit our most gifted ones to the expediencies of a self-centered, sex-obsessed culture?

We may never know – but we can wonder. In city after city, as child after child is destroyed without coming to fruition, what are we costing ourselves – and our own children and grandchildren? The abortionists are half right: abortion is as personal as a decision gets.

But it’s about far more – so very, very much more – than any woman’s “right to choose.”

Most Americans are simply unwilling to look at the true evil of the American Holocaust.

It is the American Holocaust. Future generations will look back and say how did decent people allow this evil to happen?

Rationalizing away slavery was easy when compared with the impossible task of explaining why 54 MILLION innocent babies were murdered.

I suspect a President Newt would sign a Congressional bill that determined life begins at conception.

I don’t think today’s Scotus would handle the issue as it did in 1973.

Tens of Millions. Gone.

No wonder there is a Social Security/Medicare funding crisis.

As someone pointed out on another thread yesterday, we are soon reaching the point of exponential loss, as those Aborted in the early post Roe v. Wade years could now be having grandchildren.

And many would also be entering their peak earning years which means a significant loss of tax revenue and economic growth.

When you have that many then I am afraid the country is already lost

Making laws won’t change the fact that there are that many women who see nothing wrong in abortion any more than Prohibition stopped drinking

During my lifetime, I have discussed, overheard, debated, listened, and even ministered to women who have had abortions.

I am convinced that the sole reason so many women vote Democrat is because they are desperate run away from the memories and reality killing their own unborn children.

Way back in 1988, George Herbert Walker Bush debated Michael Dukakis, and was given a "gotcha" question by our fair and open minded media. I was living in Boston at the time. He was asked that if abortion were to be overturned, and he was for that, how would the law "punish" these women? He said he had not sorted out any penalties in his mind yet.

The liberal press went nuts.

The editorial page of the Boston Globe showed pictures of women chained to walls, being beaten by a whip help by then Vice President Bush.

Several women I worked with could talk about nothing else all day. Finally, and against my better judgment, I entered into the incessant conversation.

I asked them if we could at least agree that abortion was "not a good thing."

You would have thought I had poured out acid on their foreheads.

If they could have gotten away with scratching me or physically attacking me in the office that day, they would have. In fact, their attack came very close to physical.

I was in literally shock at the whole episode.

It was only several years later that I heard a woman speak at a Catholic church who had had several abortions. Hers was the most honest and heartfelt talk I had ever heard on the subject.

She spoke of her what abortion had done to her (not to mention her unborn children). She outlined several common, terrible affect that women who had committed abortion suffered from:

1. Nightmares where they would hear babies crying and/or seeing body parts in the toilet or sink

2. Dreams of seeing their unborn children appearing to them as angels or otherwise heavenly citizens, and looking upon them with incredible sadness

3. Uncontrollable weeping that would occur suddenly

4. Extreme anger and hate upon seeing other mothers with their small children

When Obama, Pelosi, Reid, and the other devils repeat applause lines at the Democrat conventions about "pro choice", and "women's health" and other euphemistic rubbish, they are throwing raw meat to these women who cannot or will not admit their sin to God and go to Him for healing.

Abortion is the Holocaust of our time.

God will judge, and His righteous judgment will be terrible.

Abortion is always sold as a Womens Rights issue by the Liberals. Conservatives have it right, it’s a Human Rights issue. The Human Right to LIVE.

I have a friend. We go way back to 1st grade. We are 40 now. My friend found nice girl and got married at age 36. He is a pretty rabid liberal however, but he is still like a brother to me (a misguided brother!). He would always spouted his pro choice views, how it’s a womans right and no one has the right to tell her what to do with her body.

A year later his wife was pregnant. About 5 months along they did this incredible thing where they got to take an actual picture of the baby and he saw his daughters face for the first time. He showed me the cool pictures with tears of joy in his eyes. I said, “I never seen you so happy.” He said this is the happiest time of his life. Then I told hi,, that’s quite amazing coming from a guy who believes his wife has a right to go and kill that baby if she so desires.....He looked at me very seriously. Then I said, “Think about this. You’re wife could wake up tomorrow and decide she doesn’t want this baby. She could go to Planned Parenthood and end that life inside her and THERE IS NOT A DMANED THING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT! Even as the father, you have no rights in regards to that growing, living child that is part of you. Doesn’t that suck????”

He actually told me he was already getting a new perspective on the issue but what I just told him made things even more clearer to him.

He no longer is for “abortion rights”. He agrees it is murder and thinks it should not be allowed. Unfortunately he still is a big social program supporting liberal. But he did take one big step forward on the abortion issue. I’m proud of him for that. Now to work on the other things!

Given that its been 39 years, a second generation of those 53 million must be taken into consideration.
Just one child for every two of those aborted in the first 20 years, would add another 13 million to that number.
God didn’t intend for the worth of 66 million people to be evaluated on the basis of their inconvenience or carbon footprint.

And yet we are surrendering our Constitutional freedoms because too many fear that a terrorist will kill 100 or 200 people every 5 or 10 years.

This country has become bassackwards.

It is fine to murder 50 million babies for mere convenience or expediency, but it is not OK for 10 million grandmas to fly on planes without a strip search.

No wonder I grieve for America. No wonder I am on bended knees giving thanks to the Lord God for not causing me to be born later than my 1958 birth date, so I can be spared the coming socialist police-state tyranny.

Thank God.

We have to call it what it is.

It a woman’s right to murder.

Nobody else in society can legally murder another person except a pregnant woman.

It’s time to end this unconstitutional special privilege certain women have to blatantly murder another person, for whatever reason they desire.

And I am not lumping in the rare ectopic pregnancy that occurs.

I think having the most pro-abort president at this time is God's judgement on the US for allowing Roe v. Wade to stand.

Ironically, if 0 was conceived a decade or so later, he probably would not have seen the light of day.

Obama says abortion is important for daughters to fulfill their dreams.

pure-1

Obama in a statement released by the White House on Sunday, January 22, 2012 said: “As we mark the 39th anniversary of Roe v. Wade... we must also continue our efforts to ensure that our daughters have the same rights, freedoms, and opportunities as our sons to fulfill their dreams.”

So by killing babies it fulfills our daughter's dreams? He also said it reflects the broader principles of America. As a state lawmaker in Illinois, he voted four times against legislation to protect the life of a baby that survived a botched abortion.

Obama can only be described as ''pure evil.''

So now we know...
'CHANGE' =
 ZERO Job Growth
 ZERO Pipelines
 MORE Food Stamps
 MORE Spending
 MORE Debt
 MORE Golf
 MORE Taxes
 MORE Welfare
 MORE Abortions
 MORE Regulation
 MORE Government
 MORE Speeches
 MORE Money Printing
 MORE Vacations
MORE Porkulus ('Recovery Summer' lost a net 329,000 jobs.)
 MORE Failure
 MORE Mumbo-jumbo
 LESS Coal
LESS WOOD (Gibson Guitars Strung Up by Feds)

Countdown until Zer0 leaves Office: 362 days as of January 24, 2012.

While you’re at, could ya pray for those of us who ARE gonna be subjected to that police state?? I’m Catholic, & right now I feel this President has put an enormous target on me.

I heard that part of that Catholic contraceptive mandate crap from Friday included a repeal of the conscience clause for health care workers. If that’s true, I guess I’m gonna be out of a job soon because I WILL NOT provide anesthesia for abortions or sterilizations.

Obama was correct with Rick Warren. This question is way beyond his pay grade, and he has just proven it by stating that the right to destroy the life of a child in the womb somehow ensures that our daughters can "fulfill their dreams." What about our potential granddaughters who will never be born?????

"The God who gave us life, gave us liberty at the same time: the hand of force may destroy, but cannot disjoin them." - Thomas Jefferson

The very core of our Declaration of Independence and Constitution is the idea that life and liberty are the gift of God, not a grant from government or a man or woman. Rather, they are inalienable.
