Support Gun Rights: BUYcott Starbucks on February 13 – 15
The Truth About Guns ^ | 24 January, 2012 | Robert Farago

Posted on 01/25/2012 8:04:17 AM PST by marktwain

The National Gun Victims Action Council has declared a Valentine’s Day boycott of Starbucks to protest the coffee chain’s support for American gun laws. TTAG Commentator Greg in Allston has a counter-proposal (so to speak) . . .

“OK everyone, let’s have some real fun, shall we? Good! Listen up and please hear me out. The antis are planning a boycott. Let’s counter with a BUYcott. On February 13, 14 & 15, please make the effort to go to Starbucks and buy something. Don’t like their coffee? Get a tea, a cocoa, a pastry, anything. Thank the clerk for Starbucks’ support of the Constitution. And here’s the cool bit . . .

Pay with two dollar bills. Thomas Jefferson, Mr. Liberty himself. If Starbucks sees a huge influx of payment in two dollar bills, people in general, and Starbucks management in particular, are sure to notice.

Why the day before and the day after you ask? Simply to show that we have the power (financial, organizational and political) and the wherewithal to absolutely swamp anything that the antis can muster. Bomb Starbucks with 2A love and money. Three days in a row. What’s it going to cost you? Twenty bucks tops.

There’s a Starbucks a block away from where I work in Cambridge. I plan on giving them a little extra business.

Do they even print $2 bills anymore? I thought they were running Franklins on the press 24/7 these days.

Yep. I think it is a heck of an idea. Businesses set their policies and we react, either giving or taking away our business. They, in turn, see the consequences or rewards of their policies, and act accordingly (if they want to stay in business).

I will be breaking out some of my 2 dollar bills and giving Starbucks some business, and an "attaboy".

Paying with the $2 makes this a looser idea. I dont even know where to find a $2 ... have not seen one in years and I dont have time to go out of my way to find them. I will go to *$ during those days, but when I do, I will pay the way I always do ... with a debit card.

I have a personal rule that I NEVER buy the over-priced coffee offered by Starbucks or other similar “coffee chain” stores.

However, on February 14, 2012 I do believe I will grant myself a one-time exception and stop by a Starbucks on my way to work...

Don’t just buy. Leave an unusually large tip.

Make it personal.

Yeah, the coffee tastes like burned elephant dung - but their pastries are pretty good. I'll be there and buying (screw the diet for a few days).

Anyone who agrees with me about the taste of Starbucks coffee have a chance to try their new "blond" (light roast) coffee? Maybe it won't be burned as much, but I've heard others say that its a 50/50 blend of burned toast and warm water.

Can I go to Tully’s instead? They’re owned by Starbucks, but their roaster isn’t run by satan.

Might have to go to S-bucks, ‘cause the western Washington OCers regularly meet there.

Ask for a medium roast. They’ll make you a cup of anything if you ask nice.

Starbuckaroo

I wonder if dollar coins would be a reasonable choice for people who can't find deuces?

I think dollar coins would be quite acceptable.

If you cannot find two dollar bills, or dollar coins, any payment would be fine.

Cost you 44 to get a hundred of them suckers...or $15 to get 20 of them...or go to a local bank and ‘order’ some for ‘free’

According to their site: Today the $2 dollar bill is growing in popularity. In 2005 alone, 61 million $2 bills were printed. This is more than twice the number of $2 bills that were printed annually between 1990 and 2001. There is a common misconception that the $2 bill is no longer in circulation. Should we buy stuff from Starbucks to support guns and then return it to protest their stand on gay marriage?

It was going viral until we just read that Starbucks is now supporting Gay Marriage, 2A or no 2A Starbucks is a loser. Boycott in order.
